Hanson and Richard <br /> L, Terry, Executive Secretary Joseph F. Murphy. <br /> GUESTS: B. Jean Thomas , James Priestly, Thomas Devane, Edward Ha tin, Phillip <br /> Barrows , Raymond Garro, George Antoni and Joshua Gottlieb. <br /> p.m. - Chairman Garland called the. meeting to order at p. . <br /> Motion by Set . -Danson to approve the minutes of the August 24 , 1983 <br /> Regular Meeting* Sedonded by Chm. Garland. This is a vote. <br /> HEARINGS AND APPOINTMENTS <br /> 6 :'00 p.m. Chm. Garland asked if Nor, Devane' was coling for his a pointment <br /> which was scheduled for p.m. Executive Secretary said that <br /> he had spoken to Mr. Devane today and he is coming. <br /> hm. Garland suggested the Board go to old business while waiting. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 1. ) Chm. Garland said that Chief.-)Grey- Wolf had submitted for the Board' s <br /> consideration a new application for restoration of the old town hall. <br /> hm. Garland also stated that basically it is the same application with <br /> a few changes . Executive Secretary recommended that copies be sent to <br /> Special Town Counsel and to Town Counsel for review -and to examine the <br /> legality of the application.. Executive Secretary started that he is <br /> pursuing the matter to see if Town agencies are interested. Sed.. Terry <br /> said that it would be good for alot of groups, Executive S cret ry <br /> said that it is the Chief Is responsibility to seek groups and see if <br /> they would be interested in using it. <br /> Chan. Garland authorized the Executive Secretary to pursue this matter <br /> and than the Board can see what avenue they have. ' Board concurred. <br /> Executive Secretary said that he has received a response from Special <br /> Town Counsel already, however, Town Counsel' is on vacation but he <br /> would have a response next week or the following Wednesday. <br /> Board returned to Hearings and Appointments as Nor. Devane was present. <br /> 6 : 08 p.m. - fir. Thomas Devane apologized for being late. . He said that it <br /> is th it intention to submit a new proposal for the golf course <br /> at Quashnet valley Country Club. He gave- an, update of why they <br /> decided to do this, He stated that now that the torn is behind <br /> us the U.E . .E and the Arany Corps of Engineer is asking them to <br /> do more to get it approved. They are asking therm to brine the <br /> course into the upland. In order to do this they have to crass <br /> town property . Mr. Ur ina asked for the torn .to swap land or <br /> to get an easement from the town, . this was opposed by the Finance <br /> Conunittee and the taxpayers association. Now they found out that <br /> they may not be able to do this anyway because of the torn forres t. <br /> Mr. Devane said that because of these set backs he is asking that <br /> the proposal be tabled at the special town meeting.
