B, Jean Thomas asked if the lay-out had been accepted. <br /> Executive Secretary, Joseph Murphy, stated that there was no need <br /> for the state to accept the layout. Town Meeting would have to <br /> .vote to abondon the existing road. <br /> Mr. Virgilio said that all these things are going to take 3 to' <br /> years and he cannot keep using town funds down there. <br /> Chm. Garland said that the Hoard would speak to Representative <br /> Cahir and see what he suggests . He stated that there is a meed <br /> to get the state involved. <br /> Mr. Virgilio said that he had made an hour survey on Saturday <br /> at the intersection of Red Brick Road and Great Oak Road and <br /> 457 cars gent by in sixty minutes between 4: 00 .m. and 5 :00 .m @ <br /> Board -thanked Mr. Virgilio for coming. <br /> .m. Mr. John Umina carne to speak to the Board of Selectmen about the <br /> article that is in the Special Town Meeting relative to the swap <br /> or lease of land with the Town, Mr. Umina explained that he . is <br /> trying to please .all the individuals involved& <br /> Chin. Garland explained that the article is already set and cannot <br /> be changed. <br /> Mr. Umina reiterated the problems he has been having and that <br /> when he care before the Board before to ask about the swap no <br /> one mentioned that the land was part of the Town Forest. Executive <br /> Secretary said that he had brought up the fact that the land is <br /> art of the Town Forest and asked Town Counsel for his opinion. <br /> Mr, Umina asked Town Counsel if he would render an opinion now. <br /> Town Couns-el replied that he was not prepared to render an opinion <br /> at this time . Mr. Umina said that the original proposal was not <br /> satisfactory to the Taxpayers Association and to the Finance <br /> Committee. He would like to see the golf course finished. He <br /> stated they are willing now to pay a fair mark <br /> et price for the <br /> land. <br /> Chrn. garland a ]ped Town Counsel Joseph Reardon, if this wasn' t <br /> s <br /> changing the sense and meaning of the article# Mr. Umina asl ed <br /> if this could be amended on the floor. Town,-Counsel said that <br /> it might be amended to add to it an item of eons ideration. <br /> Executive Secretary started that r. mina had been informed <br /> originally, to submit a written proposal and a plan. This has <br /> not been done. <br /> Town Counsel stated that he wants to research Chapter 45 , ' Section <br /> 19 before he renders an opinion.
