Garland explained that the Board. had received letter from <br /> - Doctor Lloyd Bremer who is the Medical Director of the Cape and <br /> Islands Emergency Medical services System, Inc. regarding -road <br /> races, marathons and tria.thalon . Dr. Bremer- is very concerned <br /> about the safety aspect and he suggests that , such events not - be <br /> scheduled during the Barnstable' Fair s the police and rescue <br /> units are already overtaxed at that time, Dr. - Bremer .also feels <br /> that the sponsors should get the sanction 6f- the fire and police <br /> before the events and in cases. of triathalons the Coast Guard also. <br /> Further .Dr. Bremer recommends that i f. the temperature is .84 degrees <br /> or over at the time of the . race it be cancelled because of the <br /> risk to the participants . Chm. Garland said that he would personally <br /> respond to Dr. Brener. el'.
