F BOARD of SELECTMEN MEETING November 2Y 1983 PRESENT: ' Chairman Chester A. Garland, Selectmen Willard L4 Hanson and Richard L, Terror, 'Town Counsel Joseph J, Reardon and Executive Secretary Joseph F. Murphy., GUESTS : Manuel Costa, Michael M ] unds, Jane Peterson, William Martiros , Wayne Tavares, Carol Jacobson, B, Jean Thomas , Charles Buckingham, Pauline IeLory,, Marshall Severance and Ernest Virgilio. Chairman Garland convened the meeting at 6 :02 P.m* Chairman Garland said that s-ee-ings how no one had arrived for their appointments the Board would take up old business . Chin. Garland asked if there was any old business. Hearing none he proceeded to new business. NEW BUSINESS 1. Board .discussed the memorandum from Ernest Virgilio, Superintendent of Streets , relative to making hip secretary a full time position, Executive Secretary explained that as a trial or experiment they had tried to use a part time secretary but with the increase level of actiitr going - on in the Town it dial not work. Board asked if the money was available. Executive Secretary said that it was . The Board sees no problem .with making that position f till - time. .' Board reviewed the recommendations of Sel. . Terror regarding the appointment of two new members to the Growth Review Committee. - Motion bar Sel. Hanson to appoint Mr.- Richard Rando and Mr. Harry Shuman to the Growth Review Comm.tt e. . Seconded by Chm. Garland. This is a vote. * on the letter from Mr. Morris irsner Esq. , Chairman of the South Cape Beach State Park Advisory Committee relative to the ten acre ite ;the Board decided to attend this Committee' s meeting of November 1 , 1983, Board returned to appointments and hearings as the members of the hoard f Appeal were present. 6 :15 p.m. Executive Secretary explained that Mr. Larry Hatfield is requesting his money back for his buil-ding permit.. This had been discussed at a previous meeting and the Board had requested that minutes or recollections of what had happened at the Board of Appeals meeting and with the Building Inspector be sent to the Board.- The Board of Appeals said that they would.. rather meet with the Selectmen and explain what had happened. hm. Garland said that they do not want to pick on Mr. Hatfield but on the other hand the Board would like to find out if some- thing was done inprudentl r. The Board feels that some tho c ht should be given to this matter and they should find out what really happened. Mr. Manuel. Costa said that the plan that was presentedreated the problem.
