Hall, <br /> Richard Lohse, Anthony Fior'entini, Vernon Thomas , Roger <br /> Layton, Monica McNally-Houghr Douglas Storrs , Buff Chase <br /> Selectman Terry convened the meeting. at 7 p.m. <br /> Selectman Terry roved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting <br /> f July 17. as s:ubmitted. Selectman Thomas seconded. All were in <br /> favor. <br /> Ap2o.intments & Hearin s <br /> 7 :00 - The{ Selectmen opened a public hearing on three changes to the <br /> present shellfish regulations . Assistant Shellfish Wardens <br /> Cheryl Campanale and Jerry Monaghan were present in place of <br /> Middleton 0"Malley-Ke es. <br /> Ms . Campanale said she ' s here on behalf of Mr. O'Malley-Keyes <br /> who doesn' t see any commercial value on Wa uoit Bay. She asked <br /> if there were any shellfisherYen present who would like to <br /> give their comments. <br /> Mr. Richardson and Mr. Lopez said they are commercial sell- <br /> fishermen 'who are in opposition to the changes. Mr. Richardson <br /> said he ' s seen no difference in the stock during the past 40 <br /> gears he' s been fishing. Mr. Lopez felt the only way to stir <br /> up the bottom was by commercial shellfishing and if the bottom <br /> isn' t sti.rred, u , it gets sour, Mr. Beggs agreed with Mr, <br /> Lopez. Mr. Lopez also felt there was no- need to restock clam <br /> as the whole south cape is loaded with thea. <br /> As everyone present for the hearing was in opposition to the <br /> changes , the Selectmen continued the public hearing to July 31 <br /> at 7 p,m, to give Mr. O'Malley-Keyes an opportunity to give his <br /> reasons for the changes . The Selectmen will rake a decision <br /> on that night. Mr. 'Malley-Keyes will be notified of the <br /> continuation and it will also be advertised in the newspaper, <br /> 7:15 - Mr. Dennis Hall of the Nam Vets Association in Hyannis was in <br /> to discuss the town purchasing a POW-MIA flag for the flagpole <br /> at the Mashpee rotary. He presented a flyer to the Selectmen <br /> and said the price would be $40. <br /> Selectman Hanson made a notion to purchase the flag to be raised <br /> with the American flag ori the flagpole at the rotary, Select-- <br /> man Thomas seconded. All were in favor. <br />
