DRAFT <br /> 7/31 /85 <br /> HARBOR MASTER (Special Police Officer) <br /> 03Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and the annual report. <br /> ' <br /> . Authorized to deputize assistant harbor masters as required. Responsible for the <br /> hiring and dismissal of personnel in accordance with Personnel policy. The above <br /> actions are subject to prior approval of the Board of Selectmen. Supervises the <br /> work activities of personnel , provides instruction and training as required. <br /> 14. Incumbent shall submit progress or work status reports or such other reports as <br /> deemed appropriate by the Board of Selectmen. <br /> PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. <br /> SUPERVISORY CONTROLS <br /> Must use initiative and judgement in accomplishing daily work with minimal supervision. <br /> Deals directly with the public and must be able to maintain a good public image and good <br /> public relations. Incumbent is exposed to weather and other undesirable elements, <br /> hazardous conditions as must work alone. <br /> OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS <br /> Must have knowledge of local by-laws dealing with wharves and all tidal waterways, State <br /> boating laws, Federal Laws as they pertain to the navigable waters. Pollution laws, oil <br /> or chemical spills_ Continuous operations of the department require the incumbent to be <br /> on call twenty-four hours a day for emergency situations which arise through the fire and <br /> �olice departments. ail <br />
