Selectmen received an article from- the Cablevision Advisory Committee for submission <br /> in the December 2 special town meeting. The CommiLtee is seeking the sun of $10,000 <br /> half which is f.or 'expenses and- the other half for professional consultant fees. <br /> Mr. Pietrows i chairman of the committee pointed out they have looked into various <br /> options narrowing it down to three: 1 town own outright ; town putin a-1h adend - system; <br /> and a private company.. <br /> Selectman Thomas roved to include this article in the special town meeting warrant. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded. All in favor. <br /> AppointmenLs & HearinLs_ <br /> 7:20 — selectmen held a public hearing relative to the proposed scallop regulations. <br /> Mr. Thomas, chairman of the shellfish commission pointed out that number <br /> eleven should be amended to rad ,not to exceed I bushel per week for <br /> family permit holders. <br /> Selectman Terry advised everyone in attendance that number two of the regulations <br /> has been referred to Attorney BI-11 Lee for his opinion and therefore would <br /> be deleted from any- regulations adopted tonight. <br /> Selectman Hanson asked if members of the Mashpee T ampanoag Indian 'Tribal Council <br /> had to have the I.D. card present as well as the, shellfish permit as the <br /> wording on this regulation was not char. Mr. Hans-on was advised that they <br /> would only need the- tribal council identification. due to a _ru Ling by Judge <br /> Rowe on arbori in l rights. <br /> Jr. Benway stated that when you get involved with arboriginal rights town <br /> counsel should review. He further stated that it would be a bad precedent <br /> for Mashpee Lo allow anyone to have special recognition and for that reason <br /> feels number two should be deleted. <br /> Selectman 'Thomas moved to adopt the scallop regulations with the following <br /> conditions: 1 delete the second sentence of number 2;an amend number <br /> • 11 to read not to exceed 1 bushel per week for- fa-roily permit holders. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor. <br /> New Business <br /> 2. Selectmen were notified by the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs that <br /> Mashpee has been chosen for $150,000 for the dredging of Popponesset Bay Channel, <br /> . Selectmen received a communication from the John' s Pond Park Committee relative <br /> to an exercise on September 24 being conducted by the USCG Air Station. <br /> The reporter from The Enterprise, Monica McNally was given a copy of this for advertise— <br /> ment. <br /> 4. The Board of Health communicated with the Board as to the availability f town <br /> counsel . <br />
