3 <br /> r <br /> i <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN <br /> M 1 N U T E <br /> NOVEMBER 13, 1985 <br /> Present: Selectman Thomas, Selectman Hanson, Selectman terry and Executive Secretary, <br /> Joseph F. Murphy <br /> Guests; Monica McNally, Carol Costa-Crowell , Deputy Cooper and Ernie Virgilio <br /> i <br /> Selectman Terry convened the meeting at 7 p.m. <br /> Selectman Thomas moved to accept the minutes of the October 30 regular meeting and <br /> the November 5 administrative meeting. Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor. <br /> Appointments & Hearin <br /> 7:00 - Dr. Nicholson, Superintendent of Schools asked the Selectmen to recognize the <br /> School Building Committee as the Designer Selection Committee for the new school <br /> facilities. Dr. Nicholson presented to the Board a proposal for Designer Selection. <br /> He stated t-he committee has looked at the property available and would build on the <br /> 3 acres existing. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked if they are plahning -to 'use-,the entire 53 acres as it was <br /> her understanding their would be future plans to house the Town Hall on part of <br /> these 53 acres. <br /> Dr. Nicholson responded that the school would need ars additional 15 acres leaving <br /> 3 acres of town owned land, <br /> Selectman Thomas moved to designate the School Building Committee as the Designer <br /> Selection Committee. Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor. <br /> Mr. Virgilio was in for two reasons one being the New England Telephone hearings <br /> and the other being that it was brought to his attention that a statement was made <br /> to the effect that he went ahead and bulldozed an area of Conservation land for <br /> a proposed firing range without getting proper authority. Mr. Virgilio further stated <br /> that he was given a plan from the Town Planner showing what he was to do. Mr. Virgilio <br /> advised the board that he will never touch another thing in town unless he receives <br /> written approval from the Board. _. <br /> 7: 15 - Selectmen held two hearings for New England 'telephone relative to a JO pole <br /> relocation on South Sandwich Road and proposed buried cable and one pedestal on <br /> South sandwich Load. <br /> Mr. Virgilio reported he has worked out the details with New England Telephone and <br /> has no objection. <br /> Selectman Thomas moved to approve petitions 5- 5 and 85-580 Of New England Telephone. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor. <br /> Old -Business <br /> 1 The Finance Committee advised the Board that they have recommended against approval <br /> of an article submitted by the DPW Director for the grubbing, loaming and seeding <br /> of 8,000 square feet of the cemetery. The reason for this is the Finance Committee <br /> asked for additional information as to the operat-ion of the cemetery. <br /> Selectmen abed that the Finance Committee be adived that they concurr with their <br />
