Board of Selectmen Meeting <br /> 3/86 Pag e 2 <br /> coming from the main to the meter will be at a cost not to exceed <br /> $1500; application to High wood Nater Company will cost $150; <br /> from meter with proper piping and support system will cost about <br /> $500. There are 5 steps to get ,the water to the townspeople : <br /> 1) appicat 3. n; 2) .ab results on main; 3 meter pit ; support <br /> system and spigots ; 5 actual. construction. it will take two <br /> to three weeks for completion. They will discuss in the future <br /> another water maim at Donna 's Lane , <br /> Old Business <br /> 3 ) . Virgilio came before the Board regarding herring run <br /> maintenance and herring regulations . The Board signed a copy <br /> of the regulations to be filed with the Division of Marine <br /> Fisheries and it will also be published. <br /> Deputy Chief Cooper explained that after he spoke with Town <br /> Counsel i t was recommended that Mr. Virgilio be rade a constable <br /> to give him authority. selectman Thomas mored Mr. Virgilio^ as <br /> constable for a. term to expire June 3o, 1986 for services only <br /> in the herring warden capacity, Selectman Hanson seconded and <br /> it was a vote <br /> lop _inrnent s,. <br /> From 8 :12 -- 9:15 the Board interviewed three candidates for <br /> Shellfish officer - Paul Somerville ,, David Ryan and Bruce Bennett . <br /> Shellfish Commissioners Bob Maxim and Vernon Thomas also partici- <br /> pated in the interviews . The Board allowed each candidate the <br /> opportunity to expound on their backgrounds and experience and <br /> to ask any question of the Board . This was done separately - one <br /> t a time . <br /> Agter interviews were completed, Mr. Maxim recommended Mr. Ryan <br /> and felt Mr. Somerville was good, Selectman Thomas roved t <br /> appoint Mr. Ryan as Shellfish Officer. Selectman Hanson <br /> seconded and it - was unanimous . His term will be to April 30, 1989 , <br /> . <br /> with a six-month probation period . Mr . Murphy will Inform the <br /> candidates . <br /> New Business <br /> 2 Selectman Thomas moved for a $2, 000 minimum on the disposal, <br /> f the shellfish boats by bias and a $5, 000 minimum on the D.P.W. <br /> truck disposal by bid. Selectman Hanson seconded and it was a <br /> vote . <br /> Old Business <br /> 4) The Board discussed the 3 .8% increase i Blue orss/Blue <br /> Shield rates which will be effective July 1, 1986 . Selectman <br /> Thomas felt someone should attend the -May 7 meeting on this , <br /> 5 ) The Board reviewed the communication from .E . regarding <br /> the permanent clos ingof the Mashp e River to she llf-ihing. <br />
