<br /> The eet'i g was called to order at :.00 P .m.
<br /> Selectman Thomas moved to accept .-the regular and executive session
<br /> minutes of July 16, 1986 . Selectman Lawrence seconded and it eras a vote ,
<br /> ointments
<br /> 7-: 00
<br /> -: oo - The Board met- with Louse Behrman, Caro. Jacobson,. Mary Brown
<br /> and Steven van Tol of .the Conservation Commission. The--Commission
<br /> ..had jotted down -some administrative procedures but didn't- have it
<br /> formalized yet . They will return in two weeks with it , The' Selectmen
<br /> expressed the importance of having something written so the Conser-
<br /> vation officer will know what ' s expected of him and so the public
<br /> will know what they have to do and everyone will be treated fairly,
<br /> 'They discussed the Mashpee River Management Sub-Committee , The
<br /> Conservation Commission was recommending Gerald. Sprout , William McKay,
<br /> David Liven, Phyllis Pa.s ou as , Joann Ferragamo and Richard Terry
<br /> and a. designee from the -Selectmen' s office ., - Town Planner, DPW and
<br /> Parks & Recreation departments as members , The Selectmen didn't
<br /> i agree on the designees being part of the do=ittee as the department
<br /> heads wouldn t have the time necessary to attend all meetings and
<br /> then there would be a quorumproblem. They felt if hese people
<br /> were needed for a specific problem, they could attend the meeting
<br /> .then but not as members . The Commission will recommend one more :
<br /> 'person as a. member to make a total of seven. Ms . Behrman will present
<br /> ' 'her recommendation at the Selectmen' s meeting on August 6.
<br /> ...,New Business
<br /> 5) Mr. Shaughnessy, Chairman of the Library Building Committee, carne
<br /> before the Board with his Committee 's recommendation of Canby Bros. Inc .
<br /> 'to constrtict the new library. They were the low bidder at $4582000 ,
<br /> -Re .said they would like the Board to take action on approving Letter
<br /> of Intent to be drawn up by the architect Mr, Deane . Selectman Thomas
<br /> moved they issue a. Letter of Intent t - Casby Bros , Inc . to be drawn
<br /> up by Gaffney Associates acting on behalf the Board of Selectmen.
<br /> Selectman Lawrence seconded and it was a unanimous vote , Mr. Shaughnessy
<br /> said they will be having a. pre-construction meeting with the Library
<br /> Building Committee , Board of Library Commissioners, a representative
<br /> From the federal government , Mr. Murphy and the contractor.
