A <br /> MINUTES' OF THE PERSONNEL 1IEL B Al D MEETING <br /> August 3, 1981 <br /> Personnel Board members present: James F. Rich, Chairman, Robert <br /> Sullivan, Caroline Gilligan, and John-Peters , Jr. y <br /> Also present at this meeting: Chief Duncan Gould of the Fire Depart- <br /> ment. <br /> epart- <br /> ment. <br /> Chairman Rich called this meeting to order at ,m, and it was <br /> held in the Personnel Board office at the Town Half. . <br /> At 7 : 00 p.m, Mr, varden Kelly of the .TrF asurer' s Office -'had an inter- <br /> v,iew with the Board pertaining to his application for transfer to the <br /> Secretary/Dispatcher job 'ire the. Fire Department, Mr. Kelly was inter- <br /> viewed and asked why he warted the job. He feels it will be a challenge <br /> to hien. The Hoard asked how he could foresee taping' a $30. 00 cut in <br /> salary to make the transfer. Mr. Kelly responded that it would be <br /> hard but that he felt that it was time for a change, <br /> - At the close of the interview the Board along with Chief Gould dis- <br /> cussed their recommendation, It was felt that due to his personnel <br /> record, es-.pedally regarding tardiness and not calling in within a <br /> reasonable period of time when calling in sick. The Board felt. that <br /> they could not recommend hire in good faith. � <br /> A vote was called. Mr, Rich noted not to recommend, Mrs', Gilligan. <br /> voted to abstain a she came in ..,."te for the int rview. Mr. Sullivan <br /> voted not to recommend and Mt. Peters voted t . recommend Mr, 'Keller <br /> for the job. Chief Gould was asked his recommendation by the Personnel <br /> Board and he felt that he could not reco mend Mr. Kelly either. <br /> letter will be sent to Mr. Keller informing him of this decision. <br /> The next order of business was to discuss the -ssi ilit r of taking <br /> our second recommendation for the job in the Fire Department and <br /> offering it to that individual. Diss Lucinda Erdman was the second <br /> 1 <br /> recommendation of the Personnel Board for a intment to the job. <br /> a <br /> Miss Erdman is very well qua-lified for the position and i presently <br /> working ng for the enter ille/ sterville Fire Department. She is well. <br /> qualifd in the field of Ambulance Billing'. <br /> Mr, Rich made a motion that the Board recommend Miss Erdman to the <br /> position but be sure that she is informed that there could he a <br /> Grievance filed by Mr. Keller through A:the [inion because he did not <br /> get the job. If indeed he won the grievance , he would have to be <br /> given thb job. <br /> A vote was called. Mr. Rich voted to recommend -Miss Erdman for the job. <br /> Mr. Sullivan voted yes . Mr. Peters noted yes.- Mrs. Gilligan vo ed no. <br /> The proper paper work will- be submitted by thb secretary& <br /> Mr. Culp, Town Accountant, met with the Board at P.m. His <br /> question was to ask the Board to seek clarification fora Attorney <br /> Weld regarding the Longevity pay for terminatdd employees such a <br />
