PERSONNEL BOARD i ASHPEE TOWN HALL MEETING of OCTOBER 2 , 1983 The following members of the Personnel Board were present during the meeting : Caroline M. Gilligan? David Hardy , Manuel. Glickman and Carrie Saunders Acting Chairpers n Gilligan convened the meeting a 6 :00 p.m. Review o Mail A letter dated October 211 1983 from Gerald Labu e was read into the minutes asking that his name be removed from the list of applicants for the Asst . Building Inspecto' rls position , memo dated October 24 from Chief Frye was discussed with reference o his recommendation of Pawl valeriani for the position of full-time police officer . Discussion was made on the results of the written examination which Chief Har{tin administered for the positions of full.-time firefighter and call firefighter . out of thirty-one applican sa in' g the test , twenty passed. Minutes of Personnel Board Manny motioned to accept the minutes of the Personnel. Board ' s meeting of October 1 , 1983 . All in favor . Discussion on Secretarial Pool Carrie said that' she felt local people should be encouraged to tale positions in the secretarial pool ; thereby , getting a towns person in- terested in what is happening in the town and thus being able to spread the word in order to promote activities . She suggested that notices be posted at the Senior Citizens Center ? Angelos and Cape Cod Community College. Dave said that , he too , felt that the Board should encourage hiring more local people and that the secretary test these people . All were in favor .r Privacy for Personnel Office The Executive Secretary net v+ith the Personnel Board in order to discuss the Board ' s need and desire to have more privacy, Joe told the Board that the Building Inspector ' s office will be moved to the 'Town Accountant ' s of- fice since that office will have three full-time people and the fact that it is more compatible to have the Building Inspector ' s office next to the Board of Health . The Town Adcountdntls office wIll.- be moving up into the Building Inspector ' s space . Toe told the Board that that only other of- ice space available is the Planning Board Room or the Conservation Room. However , that conservation room would not be accessible to the handicap, Manny said that it was not so much the size of the room ? but that the Board ' s concern was that the voice carries and things are _heard. which are not meant to be beard .
