PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING OF OCTOBER 3 , 1983 MASHPEE TON HALL The following 'members. of the Personnel Board were present * Caroline Gilligan ? David Hardy, Manuel Glickman and Carrie Saunders , Acting Chairman Gilligan convened the meeting at 6 :00 p.m. Minutes of Personnel Board - Mg . of 9/19/83 Discussion was made on the'Personnel Board minutes of September 19 with Carrie Saunders making reference to a statement which she felt was taken out of Context as follows : "Since it was a relatively neer Board , she felt it would be in order for the Board to consider- this a serious thing" . Carrie explained that she felt that the members needed to establish Board policy that all are going to support since the majority of the Board has served less than' one term. Caroline commented that the policy to interview new members is some- thing brand new as she nearer remembered being interviewed by anyone . Dave commented that it is a brand new board. Caroline said that the Board has no right to say that they do not want someone , Dare rade reference to the town by-.law which says the Selectmen are the appointing authority. Manny suggested } ridging the topic up under new business and to ask the Selectmen to agree to Certain procedure or ask for a by-law. Carrie Commented that the Board of Selectmen are amiable t.o , working with different Boards in the town. She suggested having a meeting with the Selectmen, ' Dave said that it is not that easy to wolf with the Selectmen as they are not always supportive. . Caroline said that the Personnel Board now has the support commenting that a year ago it was different. Carrie Commented that if the Personnel Board Chooses members , the dan- cer would be that they could always be bringing on friends and neigh- bors . Dave said that was a point well taken. Further discussion was tabled and to be brought up under new business . Approval of minutes was also tabled.
