Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of May 23,' 1983 Page <br /> S ' <br /> sLandidate Selection Process 'cont. <br /> the candidates names in alphabetical 'order on the memo which is sent over' and then placing <br /> the Board's vote in an envelope. <br /> Discussion was also made on the 'fire chief se.lection with Selectman Hanson stating that <br /> Chief Hartin, in his opinion, was the most qualified candidate. Dave commented that the <br /> - Chief from Otis who helped with the interviewing) highly recommended Mills. Bob told the <br /> Board of Selectmen that Mills checked out excellent and that it was a matter of taking a <br /> young kid or veteran. selectman Hanson said that the majority of experience Mills had was <br /> with a call department and that he had n experience with an ambulance system. Selectman <br /> Garland commented that Martin was -in the running for the Fire Chief's position in .the town <br /> of Yarmouth.; however, it was decoded that he was' too young for that department, <br /> After the m-eeting adjourned with the Selectmen and the Executive Secretary, the Personnel <br /> Board discussed-how they would sena the-candidates names over to the Selectmen. Dave <br /> roved to list ,the names of the candidates alp abetically along with an envelope listing the <br /> order which the Board voted,,-. Manuel, seconded the motion, All present were- in favor. <br /> Reest to Reconsider Rates for- TemporM H <br /> The Personnel Board secretary told the Board that.. the gate set for temporary help in the <br /> Selectmen's office was not acceptable as the Executive-Secretary could not justify paying <br /> someone more than what the positi n currently pays.'- Also- the .rate set for the Highway <br /> Department was set too high for t tp rary''help and the Board was asked to reconsider that <br /> decision also. The Board rescinded their d vision to pay temporary help $5.45 'per. hour <br /> and voted to sets the rate in, the e-lectmen#s office for -temporary help at $5.18 per hour <br /> nd in the Highway Department at 3.90 per hour.. - <br /> Applicati6ns for Senior Secretary - Bd. of Selectmen , <br /> The secretary reminded the Board that apli.c tions needed-to be reviewed for the Senior <br /> Secretary -position to the Board o.f Selectmen, as today was the closing date.' The Board <br /> chose candidates which they felt were qualified 'for interviewing and scheduled- the inter- <br /> views <br /> nt r- <br /> vi ws for Tuesday, May 31,, <br /> LifesHard and Recreation Aide Recommendations , <br /> Wendy Rubin met with the Board with reference to the Personnel. Board's request to meet <br /> with candidates for the li eg and,and recreation'iox� aid Positions, She told the Board that <br /> the candidates lived a distance away from Iashpe ad commented t.ha.t the Board always left <br /> It up to her to choose. Bob Sullivan ,commented that the Board did give her the authority <br /> to hire the guards in.- the past.. . ' m ti n was made by Curti's Woodbury to continue to let <br /> Wendy use her own discretion -on interviewing. for recreation personnel. Caroline - illiga.n <br /> seconded the motion. All present were in.agreement. <br /> Board Secretary - Library Bldg. Needso�.ttee <br /> Both Anne McGee and Amy Ngo e ly app l id for- the position as Board Secretary to the Library <br /> Building Needs Committee. The Personnel. Board felt-.that both of the applicants were <br /> qualified as they have worked .for the town 3n. the past and 'voted to send both names to <br /> the Selectmen for selection. <br /> Interview for Part Time Administrative Secret <br /> Grace Maddox was interviewed by t1 e- Personnel Board for theposition of Administrative6 <br /> eecretary to the Highway Department. - Ernie Virgilio was present during the interview. <br /> rior to the interview, Mrs. Maddox was given a typing and dictation test. Mrs. Maddox <br /> was given a job description to. review-' and-was informed of the hours and rate o 'pay for <br /> the position. Mrs. Maddox was also infom' e in detail exactly what the job would- entail, <br /> The interview lasted a total - f ,- '7 minutes, <br />
