PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> IASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> MINUTES of FEBRUARY 14 1983 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for the meeting: Robrt <br /> Sullivan, Chairperson, Caroline Gilligan, Curtis Woodbury and Manuel Glickman. <br /> Chairperson Sullivan convened the meeting promptly at 6:00 P.M. <br /> Town Report <br /> The members of the Board reviewed the town report as drafted by the secretary and voted <br /> to accept it. <br /> Interviews for Senior Citizen Coordinator <br /> .From 6:15 p.m. through 7-.3Q p.m., the Personnel. Board ,interviewed candidates for the <br /> position of Senior Citizen' Coordinator along with the presence of laebel.l.e Caddy- and <br /> Eleanor Hatcher, members of the Council on Aging. The applicants interviewed were a <br /> follows: Lawrence Frazier, Jane-Holly Weintraub, E,, Franklin Phillips, Kathleen. Renaud, <br /> and Marie Jacques. Two other applicants- scheduled 1!or interviews, Robert Tall nt and <br /> Christine Martini did not Seep their appointment. Mr. Tallent did call during the even- <br /> ing to say that. he was not ploughed out from the snow storm of February 12, however, he <br /> indicated that he ,did still want to be considered for the job. Christine Martini did <br /> not call. After the .interviewing, it Was the unanimous vote of the Personnel Board that <br /> reference cheeps be conducted on three semi-finalists: Jane-Holly Weintraub, Kathleen <br /> Renaud and Lawrence Frazier-. The Council on Aging members were -.n agreement. <br /> Discussion on Student Horticulturist <br /> Ernie Virgilio appeared before the -Board to discuss concerns which the Personnel .Board <br /> had as to where the town would use a student horticulturist. Ernie .indica ed areas such <br /> as the Mashpee Rotary, Central Ave. .&.130 Island, the Pump Island, Great Neck Rd,,, Red <br /> Brook Rd., future island at Nins.g et Rd. & Rte. 151., future island at Cotuit Rd. .& Rte. <br /> 130, around the Library, in front -of. "down Hall,' Senior Citizens building, fire and police <br /> Complex, Indian museum for p s ibl.e locations as well as any other picturesque area- there <br /> may be, - <br /> Bob commented that the town had bad experiences in the -past with temporary help. <br /> Ernie explained .that if ,the positir -were approved at town meeting, he would .like to see <br /> a. college student hired -- one whowas on a work program from a college. H ,commented <br /> that he would want a well-versed person. He mentioned that the person, along with him- <br /> self, would build a program- for the future arra that there would be some 'test .spats at <br /> first. <br /> Manuel asked if the program would be completely written out? <br /> 18rnie replied that it would be on p per and that it would be a well.-designed program. <br /> e ix to restru t t �ti i ria .x it <br /> He commented further by saying that g . �p - <br /> .more re f a highway department and a department of publ-ic works so that the town would have <br /> more organ.zed work groups <br /> Request for Salary Increase f`or. Tem ray Hel <br /> F <br /> ' The Superintendent of Streets aske6 i the Personnel; Board to consider givin'g Nancy Canata <br /> (who was :'red on a temporary secretarial basis) more than the $3.90 per hour explaining <br /> that she worked during a snow emergency and had to come. in during the night. He com- <br /> mented that the quality f her work is' e ee l lent. The -Board voted unanimously to approve <br /> that Nancy Canata be paid at the nate of $5.47 per- hour. <br />
