Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of January 1.7, 1983 Page <br /> Meeting With Chief Priestly, cont O <br /> Curtis asked what time the incident took place? The Chief replied at 1200 hours, <br /> Curtis asked why Martini would tell 7 ottridge to take the vehicle for gas instead <br /> of him <br /> The Chief replied that it is normally the Shift Commander's function. <br /> Curtis asked how Long Dottridge was gone? <br /> Chief Priestly replied that he was cone for a total of 16 minutes round-trip to <br /> Joe DiMaggios Sunoco Station. <br /> Caroline asked the Chief _If the men would recelve a copy of the rules commenting <br /> that they should sign for them and then there should not be problems in the future. <br /> She continued to say that they are used to doing things as they please and that she <br /> does not think it is fair for a Chief to cope with insubordination. <br /> Dave commented that there have been a series of discipline problems. <br /> The Chief commented that he recommends that when hiring a new Fire Chief, they con- <br /> sider a strong man with a -strong personality and good -administration background plus <br /> pay more money commenting that the money did not mean much to him as he liked Fire <br /> Service. <br /> f anue l commented that the. town needs to recognize the going rate for a Fire Chief, <br /> The Chief continued to say that there 'are _-three ]rinds of department heads -- the <br /> aS. .B. 's who are loved by superiors and hated by in' feriors.
