Personnel Board <br /> Meeting df January 30 , 1984 Page <br /> Educational Courses , cont . <br /> the proper "Request for Course" form be sent to Bob Long. <br /> Marilyn Farren reported that the cost of a Word Processing Concept <br /> course at the Cape Cid Community College would b $1.24 plus the <br /> additional cast of books . Approval was granted by the Board for <br /> their secretary to tak.e the course in ward Processing concepts during <br /> the 1934 spring semester . <br /> Request to Upgrade : r ational. Positions <br /> The Board r evIewed a memo dated January 18 from Wendy Rubin clarifying <br /> her request of January 4 to upgrade one of the gate attendant positions <br /> to that of Head Gate Att nda t as well as upgrading the recreational <br /> aide clas' sification to provide for highly skilled specialists . The <br /> Board voted to upgrade the position of Cate Attendant to Head Cate At- <br /> tendant <br /> t-t ndant as per Wendy ' s recommendation . They felt , however , that the <br /> rate of pay should be comparable with that of a first-year lifeguard , <br /> �3 .60 per hour , and not comparable with clerical wades as requested. <br /> It was suggested that a separate job description be drawn up for Head. <br /> Gate Attendant .. <br /> The position of Recreation Aide was also reviewed along with the present <br /> rate currently being paid to the Level. II Aides ? which is $5 .02 per hour . <br /> The Beard Cit that a highly s -111 d specialists hired to work n speci- <br /> fic assignments should be paid at the rate o $5 . 02 .per hour with a three <br /> hour minimum -guarantee . A separate job description will also be drawn <br /> up.- <br /> Request <br /> p.-Request for Recreation Aide f Level I <br /> In a memo dated January 4 , - Wendy recommended Th r sa Gomes for the posi- <br /> tion of Recreation Aid , Level. 1. at the rate of $3 . 40per hour to cover <br /> the winter programs such as Youth Basketball , Volleyball , etc . This <br /> position was advertised with only one applicant applying. The Board unani- <br /> mously voted to recommend that Ms . Gomes he appointed as Recreation Aid , <br /> Level I. <br /> Request to Change Anniversary Date <br /> t . the Board ' s last meeting of January 23 , discussion was made on the <br /> change of anniversary date. for Cheryl l#awv r being changed from Nov. 23 <br /> to Oct . 31 as per the request of the Building Inspector . Chairman <br /> Sullivan asked that research be done to show if this has 1;een allowed <br /> in the past . Documents wh_;,ch showed that probationary periods had been <br /> waived along with anniversary dates being changed were reviewed for three <br /> employe-es of the town : Barbara Russell . Marilyn Farren and Nancy Canata. <br /> Dave recommended that the request to change.... Cheryl Hawv r l s anniversary <br /> date frcm N Fv mb r 23 to October 31 be granted but that it clearly b <br /> stated that the Board does not wish tc set a precedent . Bob commented <br /> that requests will be reviewed individually based on their own merit . Ali. <br /> were unanimously in favor . <br /> Newsletter <br /> Only three employees responded to the Board ' s inquirer of whether or not <br /> they would be interested in having a town employee newsletter . Da asked <br /> that a memo be sent to -those p pb. ' asking if they would like to donate <br /> time during working hours to produce the newsletter . <br />
