i Personnel Board Minutes of January 9 ,' 1984 Page 2 Draft of P. A. P. Board members were given a copy of the recent draft as prepared by Attorney Michael Gilman along with recommendations for changes as seen by Chairman Sullivan in a recent review of the draft , The Board approved the issuance of an article for speciatl town meeting in order that the update of the P . #P, be accepted , Caroline was asked to represent the Board at town meeting . Town Newspaper The- idea of a- town newspaper , as suggested by Dave at a previous meeting, was discussed further . This would help to improve commun- ications' amongst town employees . Carrie said that she thought it would be the responsibility of the executive secretary to put out public relations for communications as that office knows what is going on in every department . Dave- commented that he was thinking of a semi-offi-cial newsletter . Manny suggested naming it "The Town Employee ' s Publication " . Dave suggested that a memo be sent out to employees to see how they would feel about having a newsletter . Awards Dave suggested -implementing an award ' s program and recognizing out- standing ut- st~anding employees with 'the Personnel Board making nominations . Carrie said that criteria should be established and that it should be pend up for wide participation . Dave motioned that the possibility of doing this be Doled into . - All. were in agreement . Special Appointments Bob reviewed -his recommendations with the Board for special Appoint- ments ppoint-ments as follows : Harbor Master f Shellfish Warden and Herring Garden one person in charge in order that lines can be crossed with any problem with boating. Assistants of Harbor Master should be paid if assistants of shellfish warden are paid. Plumbing , Wiring and Gas Inspectors could b-e paid -on a percent basis . Civil... Defense should be kept separ- ate since grants can be obtained . Interviews of Call Firefighters The Personn'el Board , along with the assistance of Chief Hartin and Senior Firefighter Bill. Chase , interviewed three applicants for the position of call firefighter a8 follows : Gecrge Cole , Steven Lemieux and Daniel. Kelley. The Board was in agreement alone with the Chief that e-urge Cole and Daniel. 'Kelley would be qualified candidates . Mr . LemieuX was .not avall.abl.e to work except during the winter months . , Board Secretaries_ Candidates for the secretarial pool were brought to the attention o the Board -- Diana Lund , Nancy Gagncn and Carol Lopez . It was noted that Nancy Gagnon did not have a typing test with Board members comment- ing that procedure should be followed.
