When the Beard hired
new people in the torn, they had to mare new steps and grades. For example, the town
found that in hiring an Assistant Health Agent, they had to raise the salary of the Agent.
In establishing an Assistant Assessor position, the Board had to set the rate at a certain
level. She said in doing this, the Board performed their function and got what they were
after. However, the people currently working for the town holding certain grades were
overlooked. .
Vern said that when the M.M.A. did the study, they did not cco pli h what they .were
supposed to as everybody was asking for an adjustment on their salary. She said everybody
made the boat except her and that her position has been out of step for over two years.
She commented that the Assessor ended up with a $40 raise and that it did not seem reason-
able or fair.
