Bert Lofchie. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convene0the meeting a p.m. <br /> .Personnel Minutes <br /> Ben LofchieAboVedr; o:iaec p ( cher-P is rnel.minuts of September 23 and September 30. <br /> Caroline Gilligan seconded.. All. present -in favor. <br /> Sick Time Adjustment <br /> The doctor's slip from Dr. Silva was recently-received by the Personnel Board and <br /> reviewed at tonight' s meeting. Mr. Boyd had previously requested additional sick <br /> days from the sick bank for the period he was out this past suer. The Board did <br /> not act on this request until receipt of a letter from Dr. Silva stating that Doug <br /> Boyd could return to work and could perform the duties of Building Inspector as <br /> required. Berg Lofchie mored to grant an additional twelve-- days -from the sick bark. <br /> Caroline Gilligan seconded. All present were in favor. <br /> Request o Leave Work Early - T. Moll <br /> The Board reviewed a 'letter from the director of the Olympic Swim -Team verifying that <br /> Tracie Moll is enrolled on a swim team and that she .must be at training each day by <br /> 4:00 p.m. M . -Moll requests to leave work by . p.m. each day working through her <br /> lunch hour. B en Lochi e moved to, allow Ms. Moll to leave work a 3:30 p.m. each day <br /> as long' as in training for the Olympics. Caroline Gilligan seconded. All in favor. <br /> R <br /> Harbor Faster~ Applicants <br /> The Personnel Board, upon review of all applications for the Harbor Master position, <br /> agreed to interview all applicants at their meeting of November 4. <br /> Mee ing- D.P.W. Director and Town Accountant <br /> Ernie Virgilio and Verne Polka met with the Personnel Board to discuss the rate of <br /> pay for temporary laborers. Ernie explained that the current rate of -� 0 per hour~ <br /> creates a.-problem if he is filling a vacancy of a truck driver and a heavy equipment <br /> operator.. He told the Board -that only three employees in his department are authorized <br /> o drive trucks and heavy equipment (with only one mars officially being able to run <br /> heavy equipment) . He asked the Board to consider changing Appendix B of the P.A.P. to <br /> Laborer Skilled Laborer, Truck Driver - Class I & II, and Heavy Equipment operator with <br /> license. Chairman Sullivan recalled a situation where the Board had previously granted <br /> a differential in pay to a temporary laborer when assigned as a truck driver. Verne <br /> Polka suggested that a Highway temporary laborer be paid at Step 1 of the position be- <br /> ing filled under the Union contract. After further discussion, the Board was in agree- <br /> ment submit an article for the annual town meeting making the charge of Appendix B, <br /> Temporary Laborer-a outlined above. <br /> Er,n!6 also advised the Board that the Highway employees would have a new contract with <br /> the position of supervisor being created. He said that there would still be a Foreman <br /> position, but the Foreman position would consist of three employees assigned. to speci- <br /> fic areas of the department. The individuals.- pj l ring for the supervisor~ position <br /> would have to take a written examination and ars oral examination. They Mould have to <br /> be qualified by licensing and past experience. <br /> Request for Joint meeting <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated October 18 from the Executive Secretary advising the <br /> Personnel Board that the Board of Selectmen have arranged for representatives of the <br />
