PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES T OFJULY 8, 1985 . 1P A HP F TOWN HALL The following members of the Personnel Board were in attendance at tonight's Meeting: Chairman Robert W. Sullivan, Manuel Glickman, Carrie Saunders and Ben Lofchie. Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at p.m. Nbrn re ; .Special Police Officer's Salary The Board r4eviewed a rem l�:. dated July 3 from the Deputy Chief .requesting the Personnel Board to review the pay rate of Special Police Officers. Recommendations were outlined in the memo with regard to paying the Special Police Officers a rate comparable to a regular Dispatcher's hourly rate when performing dispatcher -duties along with recommenda- tions o' paying a Special Police Officer+ a comparable rate to that..ofF.i.a Patrolman when assigned regular patrol duties. The Board voted three to one in fav' or of going along with the recommendation outlined -in the Deputy Chief's memo. Interviews of Animal Control Officer The Personnel Board interviewed candidates for the. position of Animal Control Officer a follows. June Daley, Vernon Johnson and Phyllis Fvenden. All- applicants were advised of the salary of $15,742.48. A copy of the job description was given to each candidate. The Board, upon conclusion -ofthe interview process, voted unanimously to narrow the finalist down. to : June Daley and Vernon Johanson pending background ground checks. Recommenda- tions will be made to the Board of Selectmen. atreach Co-Ordinator Position The Board requested that the position of Outreach Co-ordinator, which was recently approved at the May Town Meeting, be advertised in the :newspaper~ as per policy of the Personnel Administration Plan. Article re: Hiring of New Personnel & Re-Classification The Personnel Board voted unanimously to support an article proposed by the Board of Selectmen for Fall -Special Town Meeting,relative to amending the Personnel By-lav with regard to the hiring of new personnel in new positions and the re-classification of personnel in positions only at Annual Town Meetings. Harbormaster The Board reviewed a memo dated July 1 from the Executive Secretary relative to a request for a job description for Harbormaster to be prepared for submission to Selectmen and after the job description is approved, advertise for a harbormaster. The Bard asked the secretary to mail copies of all material to them. Personnel Action The Board reviewed a memo from Chief Frye relative to assigning John Dami as a Detective within the Investigative section of the Department. Re-Organization of Personnel Bd. The Board voted unanimouly to elect Bob l,sul.livan as Chairman for the 1986 fiscal year and to elect Caroline Gilligan as Clerk. r
