Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of July 8, 1985 Page <br /> Aftendy Rubin - re: Lifeguard Waes <br /> NUMendy Rubin, along with the Town Accountant, met with the Board to discuss the wages for <br /> lifeguards for this summer season. The Board also reviewed a memo from the Exeicutive <br /> Beer Lary dated July 1 stating that...theBoard cif, Sel6ctmen requests the Personnel Board t <br /> discuss the wage level of lifeguards and that the Selectmen have directed that lifeguards <br /> be provided for South Cape Beach "whatever it costs". After reviewing salaries of what <br /> private company's are paying summer employees and what town's on the Cape are paying life- <br /> c <br /> juards as well as reviewing the Recreational budget with Wendy and the Town Accountant, <br /> the Board voted unanimously to increase the wages by $1 .00 per hour for the Lifeguard 1st <br /> yr. position, the -Lifeguard, rho .-has worked for the town o "er.5 yrs. and the Headguard position <br /> to be effective at the start of the next pay period for the 1985 summer season only. <br /> Also,- the Recreation Director•' discussed the hours of the recreation assistant position stat- <br /> ing that it is necessary .for the aide to work..more hours curing the summer months than it i <br /> for him to work during the other months of the year. She explained that the assistant was <br /> hired to work 20 hrs. a week with benefits & now that she has had a► chance to take a-= review <br /> of the operation of her department, Wendy said that more hours are needed during the hectic <br /> summer months.. The Board agreed to let Wendy assign the Recreation Assistant's h ur4s as she <br /> felt it was necessary; however, 'they informed her that the position would no longer receive <br /> benefits as a regular part-time. person. <br /> Concern was raised by the Recreation Director relative to the town's age requirement of 18 <br /> Yrs. prior to being Mired for work. she asked the Board if they objected to her reviewing <br /> the situation and corning up with recommendations. She said that she would get in touch with <br /> the town's insurance company. No objection was mentioned by Board members present. <br /> n Accountant re.- Board of Health Agent Salary <br /> Town Accountant requested that the Personnel Board send a memo to Town Counsel requesting <br /> a copy of a ruling 9 hich the Board of Health claimed to have received relati e to the Agent Is <br /> salary. The.
