PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING of APRIL, 22, 1985 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN MALL <br /> The following member's -of the Personnel Board were present for the meeting <br /> Chairman Robert W. Sullivan, Caroline M. Gilligan, Manuel Glickman, Carrie <br /> Saunders and C. Berg Lofehie. <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at :15 p.m. <br /> Full-Time Dispatcher Interviews <br /> The Personnel Board, alone with the assistance of Sergeant Ethier, interviewed <br /> candidates for the position of full.--tine dispatcher for the 1 1 : .m. to 7:00 a.m. <br /> shift as follows: Stephen Baker, Donald Aerett, Calvin R. Lessard, Pasquale Fedele, <br /> and Glen Hebert. Three other candidates scheduled to.be interviewed failed to keep <br /> their appointment. All candidates were advised that the rate of pay for this position <br /> is $6.1 2 per hour, that union dues would be $9.50 monthly and that a pre--employment <br /> physical at their expense. would be required with Mashpee's town doctor~ prior to the <br /> appointment. 'All candidates were asked if they would be interested in working part- <br /> time on weekends during the summer months (possibly longer pending appropriation of <br /> monies) if they were not chosen for the full-time position. All of the applicants <br /> with the exception of Mr. Lessard, indicated that they would be interested in the <br /> part-time work if not chosen for the full-time position <br /> The Board reviewed criteria on each candidate as to their~ dispatching experience, <br /> typing capabilities and filing experience,. etc. <br /> At the conclusion of the interviews, the Board asked Sergeant Etheir for his input. <br /> Sergeant Ethier aid based on typing tests of Mr. Hebert and Mr. Baker, he would <br /> pick them as he felt that they seem articulate and capable of doing the job. Sergeant <br /> had no preference over either candidate; however, the ailment of Mr. Barer concerned <br /> him. He also indicated that Mr. Fedele, (who was not able to accept full-time employ- <br /> ment due to his pension) would be a good candidate for part-time. <br /> The Personnel. Board voted for Mr. Hebert as their first finalist, Mr. Baer as the <br /> second finalist and Mr. Lessard as the third finalist. Mr. Averett received a vote <br /> of fourth finalist from Carrie Saunders but was not ranked by other- Board members. <br /> All Board members agreed that the finalists not chosen for the full-time position <br /> should be offered the part-time osition'.before offering it to candidates not chosen <br /> as finalists. <br /> Sergeant Ethi.er was given copies of applications along with release of authorization <br /> of information forms so that a background investigation could be commenced. <br /> Vacation a.tion Policy <br /> Board members were advised that a lot of department heads were having difficulty in <br /> taking their vacation and that Joe Murphy is requesting the Board to consider granting <br /> a five day carry over of vacation days into fiscal year 1986 for department heads. <br /> Carrie Saunders commented that. she felt that the Board should extend it for everyone <br /> covered under the P.A.P. and not just for department heads providing that they have <br /> fourteen days or more on record. All Board members were in unanimous agreement. The <br /> Beard members asked the secretary to send a memo to all P.A.P. employee advising them <br /> of their decision to allow a five-day carry over and to advise them that as of future � <br /> fiscal -years, there will- be No vacation carry over allowed. <br />
