Personnel Board <br /> Meeting of April 22, 1985 Page <br /> Auhoriaion to Hire Police officer <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated April 18 from the Executive Secretary stating that <br /> the Board of Selectmen.voted to authorize the Personnel Board to proceed with the <br /> hiring of one full-Mime police officer. <br /> The Board agreed -to bring in Chief Frye to their next meeting to discuss his recom- <br /> mendations of the hiring procedure. <br /> Lifeguard Recommendations <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated April 22 from the recreation Director, Wendy Rubin, <br /> recommending a head lifeguard alone with lifeguards and beach gate attendants for <br /> the 1985 sumer season. The Board authorized that a background check be done. <br /> Falmouth Enterprise Article <br /> Carrie Saunders commented that she read an article in the Falmouth Enterprise in <br /> which Selectman Hansom commented that the Personnel Board could not see their hand <br /> in front of their face. Board members advised Carrie that Selectman Hansom had been <br /> in with his apologies. Carrie said that she felt he did the Board a favor as it shows <br /> the towns people that they have one group of people who are on the ball. She said <br /> that people -have come up to her and praised the Personnel Board -for following procedure. <br /> It left a positive effect on the people in the Town of Mashpee ! <br /> Assistant Building Inspector <br /> The Board reviewed a memo dated April 9 from the Executive Secretary advising the <br /> Personnel Board of the appointment of an Assistant Building Inspector, Harold Collins, <br /> effective as of April 9, 1985 and expiring June 30, 1986. <br /> The Board of Selectmen request as stated in the Memo that the Personnel Board vote to <br /> waive the probationary period for Mr. Collins for all purposes, but to consider Harold <br /> Collins as a new employee for benefit purposes. The Board unanimously voted to waive <br /> the six-month probationary period for Mr. Collins and agreed that he should be consi- <br /> dered as a. new employee for benefit purposes. <br /> 5 <br /> Also, it was recommended by the Board of Selectmen that the Personnel Board approve 'a <br /> rate of pay for Mr. Collins of Gracie 18, Step 2 of the Personnel Administration Plan. <br /> The Board voted to keep consistent with past recommendations and did not approve a <br /> higher salary over Grade 18, Step 1 of the Personnel Administration Plan. <br /> Resignation of Administrative Secretary <br /> The Board reviewed a letter from Cheryl Hawver,, Administrative Secretary to the Build- <br /> ing Inspector, who resigns from her position effective as of Tune 28 due, to a transfer <br /> of her husband' s job out to the Worcester area. <br /> Appointment of Health' Inspector <br /> A memo dated April 18 from the Board of Health was reviewed by the Board advising then <br /> that they appointed. Judith Giorgio to the position of Health Inspector effective as of <br /> May 6, 1985. The Board asked the secretary to obtain copies of Ms. Giorgio's applica-- <br /> tidn along with any other pertinent personnel information. <br />
