Sullivan , <br /> Caroline M. Gilligan , Manuel Glickman , C . Ben Lofhie and Leo Turo . <br /> Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting promptly at p .m . <br /> Personnel Board Minutes <br /> Ben Lofchie moved to accept ,. , the Personnel Board min-utes of November 24 . <br /> Caroline Gilligan seconded . . All in favor . <br /> Meeting With Wendy Rubin - re : Lifeguard and Beach Attendant Positions <br /> WendyRubin met with the Board to discuss the hiring of beach monitor <br /> between the age of 16 and 18 years 'old . She said that this person would <br /> have the responsibilities of picl ing up trash , bringing out equipment , <br /> assisting lifeguards and helping in the parking lot . She said that she <br /> would train and recruit local high school students to get them interested <br /> in working for the town . <br /> With reference to the hourly rate being paid to Beach attendants , Wendy <br /> commented that the rate is too low at the present time . She requested <br /> the Board to review- the rate and upgrade it to .$5 .,00 an hour . <br /> eferf-ing back to the beach mona tors , Wendy commented that they will also <br /> do enforcement type things ; i .e . , no frisbee playing , no Floats allowed , <br /> I <br /> etc . She said that her intent would be to place a monitor~ at south Cape <br /> Beach and at John ' s Pond <br /> Manny Glick.man commented that he di'd not see anything wrong with Wendy ' <br /> request . He asked if the person would need to have a driver ' s license? <br /> Wendy replied that it was not necessary as a teenager could ride their <br /> bike to the beach area . .. <br /> Wendy advised the Board that she checked with Town Counsel as to the hive <br /> of individuals under 1 8 yrs of ache and be did not see a problem in hiring <br /> bead monitors doing the types of duties she described above . Wendy com- <br /> mented that other towns on the Cape are hiring kids when they are old enough <br /> to work . <br /> Wender also advised that Board that through the capital program , she is pro- <br /> posing a maintenance division ---- a part-time custodian for buildings and <br /> fields . Tie capital expense would be at truck . The position would consist <br /> of 18 hours a week ; four hours a day . <br /> Manny Glickman asked if she spore to Ernie Virgilio about this . Wendy re- <br /> plied that she and Ernie are batt-ling as Ernie is upset ' from a newspaper <br /> article that stated the DPW is inadequate in handling their needs . she <br /> said that Joe Murphy advised her to proceed and now she is in the process <br /> of preparing a job description .- <br /> Manny <br /> escription :Manny Glickman stated that he is in favor of Wendy ' s request for the Poard ' s <br /> support in an adjustment in the labor situation . - <br /> 5 <br /> i <br />
