m # i w PF ' ON EL BOARD MINUTES of OCTOBER `27 , 1986 MASHPEE TOWN HALL The following members of the Personnel Board were present : Caroline Gilligan , Manuel Glickman , C . Ben Lof hie and' Leo Turo arriving at approx. 7 : 00 p .m . ) Acting chairman Gilligan donvened the -meeting at i s p .m . Council on Aging Director Report The Board r-eviewed a�report of a meeting between the Chairman of the council on Aging and the Director which took place on October 25 at the Senior Center . After the review , the Board requested that the Chairman , Priscilla Ham , and the new Director , Demaris Kooker , be asked to attend al~Personnel Board meeting . Physicals for Part-Time Employees The Board�discussed the need for giving part-time employees who work less than twenty hours a week p3re= mployment physicals-. They agreed to waive the pre- employment physical requirements for secretary.es and clerks who work less than twenty hours weekly ; however , felt that 'part-time employees who are required to do physical work would have to take a pre-employment physical . Mento from M-. l kman rre.: Probationary Period The Board reviewed a�memo- dated Oc-tober -8 from Manny Glickman relative to re- viewing the pro.bation-ary period to see if it could be extended if there is a need because of an employee ' s record . The current probationary. period is six . months . The Board recognized the fact that -there meed for language to be negotiated for in th-e union contracts'. Board members asked that this topic be brought up for further discussion ,when a full Beard Ars present . Memo from M . Glickman re : votes of Personnel Bd . ?.� After a. quick review Of a mento from Mannylickma' n - dated October 9 , regarding votes of Personnel Board members , the Board asked - that this subject be tabled to another meeting . Promotional - Testing The board reviewed a memo dated October- 22 from the Executive Secretary advis- ing them that the Board of Selectmen - on October 15 directed the administration of all promotional testing in the . police , fire and public works departments to be done under the direction of the personnel Board . The administrative duties include : posting of the examination , receipt of applicants for testing , all contact with outside agencies - or firms involved with the testing , administra- tion of the tests ,and scoring , security of examinations , notification of exam"' ination results to applicants .f department heads and the- Board of Selectmen . The Board, asked the secre-tory to send a memo to the Executive Secretary , Fire Chief , Police 'Chief -and D .P .W . Director .inquiring into how many dollars for examinations have been used in their departments in the past . e Part-Time custodian Interviews The Board , along with the assistance of the I . P .W. Director ad Flay Martini interviewed Band ag;Foddy for the position of part-time custodian . Diss Roddy was advised of the hourly rate of , the job duties and the hours .
