Personnel Board- Meeting <br /> Minutes of July 28 , 1 i � � Page <br /> t <br /> Step Increase D. F omelmeyer <br /> The Board reviewed the yearly evaluation o-f Diane , Iomelmeyer., Assistant <br /> Town Accountant . Based on the favorable evaluation , the Board unanimously <br /> voted to grant a step increase in pay from Grade 8 , Step 1 to Grade 8j <br /> Step 2 which i $338 .06 eel ly . ' The Board noted that educational courses <br /> 4 <br /> were being suggested by her Supervisor -and commented that they- felt that <br /> was a wise recommendation . <br /> The Board also noted the Town Accountant ' s comment under the section of the <br /> evaluation form of, "Personal Appearance " stating that she believes this <br /> should not be on the work sheet as it does not have anything to do with per- <br /> formance . <br /> er- <br /> formance . The Board disagreed with the Accountant ' s c6mmen t asked that <br /> memo be sent stating that every employee should be perfectly attired for busi- <br /> ness . <br /> Hearing of P .A .P . Changes <br /> At ip .m . Chairman Sullivan convened the hearing of the changes of the <br /> Personnel Administration Plan . In attendance were ; Selectwoman Jean Thomas ) <br /> Chief Frye and Deputy Chief cooper . <br /> The first change proposed was the Vacation Policy , page 12 of the Plan . <br /> Chairman Sullivan asked i'f everyone present was satisfied with the new changes <br /> being proposed . Deputy Chief Cooper said that he was satisfied with -Section <br /> 1 and Section 2 with the suggestion that the month breakdown be included under <br /> the Length of Employment the same as in the Police ContractY . Caroline <br /> Gilligan asked if - Sections 2 & 3 could be labelled 1 a and 1 b'�for clarification <br /> purposes as these tie into Section 1 . The Board agreed to this change . <br /> Deputy Chief Cooper discussed buy-back of vacation time similar to what the <br /> police officers received under- their contract. He explained the history be- <br /> hind the reason 'why changes were made' in the police contract . Chief Frye <br /> agreed with the Deputy stating that there should be some kind of buy-back : <br /> He commented that a year ago June )'- he was forced to take time off when he did <br /> not need it . <br /> Chairman Sullivan asked if there should be a separate thing for management? <br /> Leo Turo explained that in his job there were different contracts for manage- <br /> ment , professional and clerical employees . <br /> electwoman Thomas inquired into how they would get around not offering it to <br /> the lonely laborer? The Board said that they could take a look at it . <br /> Belectwoman. Thomas commented that Fire Chief Hartin and Deputy Fire lnief hong <br /> are looking for contracts ,and negotiating for buy-back . <br /> Chief Frye said that he had been satisfied with the P .A .P . but cannot be{ any <br /> longer when other department heads are receiving more with personal service <br /> contracts . <br /> elect man Thomas said that she felt that the Personnel Administration. Plan <br /> should be the main thrust of what an employee gets for benefits . She said <br /> then there could be the addendums for the little extras . s <br /> The Board agreed to review vacation buy-back for management . They voted to f <br /> add the month breakdown under Length of Employment as suggested by Deputy <br /> Cooper . <br />
