i <br /> PE.RSONNEL BOARD <br /> i <br /> IASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> f <br /> MINUTES of OCTOBER , 1987 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present : Acting <br /> Chairperson Caroline M. Gilligan , Manuel Glickman , and C. Berg L fchie <br /> Acting Chairperson Gilligan convened the meeting at, 5 : 55 p .m . <br /> Part-Time Clerk Interviews <br /> The Board , along with the assistance of Deputy Chief Cooper and Barbara <br /> Horton , Administrative Secretary , interviewed the following three candid- <br /> ates for the part-time clerk position available in the Police Department - <br /> Gail <br /> partm ntGail Scorgie , Dana Tobey , Judith Kelley , The hourly wage , job duties and <br /> qualifications ion were reviewed ith e Fchl appliccint : Each applicant was ad- <br /> ministered <br /> d - <br /> minister d a typing test prior to the interview . <br /> It was noted that Gail Scorgie currently works in the Accounting office <br /> up to 14 hours weekly on -a temporary bass : The" -Board asked that a ,legal <br /> opinion be obtained as to whether the town would get into a benefit-paying <br /> positron if Mrs . Scorgie were hired t.o work in another department and re- <br /> tinue to work in the Accounting Cif ice on a temporary- basis . Mrs . Scorgie <br /> dick indicate that she F could b e will-Ing to sign' a wai'vIePr of benefits if <br /> that was possible . <br /> Mr . Tobey indicated to the Board that he was looking for part--time work at <br /> the present time for approximately six months ) . He said that he was look- <br /> ing for a department which would bring him up through the ranks . <br /> Judy Kelley previously worked for the 'Wareham Police Department doing <br /> similar duties as would be required in the Mashpe Police Department . <br /> The Board narrowed down the selection process to the following to semi- <br /> finalists in the order listed .- 1 . Judith - Kelley and . Gail Scorgie . <br /> Dispatcher Interviews <br /> The Board , along with the assistance of Deputy Chief Cooper , interviewed <br /> candidates for the position . of Dispatcher for the evening and weekend <br /> shift as follows : Louisa Oakley , Elizabeth l ileyrand Diane walk r . All <br /> candidates were given typing and radio tests and a filing test prior t <br /> the interview . <br /> Upon conclusion of the interviews , the Board narrowed down the eleeti n <br /> process to two semi-finalists for, background ground checks : 1 . Elizabeth Miley <br /> and 2 . Louisa Oakley . <br /> Personnel. Minutes of ,L. � <br /> Manny Glickman motioned t- approve the minutes of August 3 with the addi- <br /> tion of the following discussion ,during the meeting with the Executive <br /> Secretary : the reason Mr . Glickman requested an amendment to the executive <br /> secretary ' b -1 w was se that the salary could be adjusted to allow flexi- <br /> bility <br /> le ci;- <br /> bilit in not paying an individual the full sa1ar-y if the person was not <br /> fully qualified when filling in during the ' absence of the Executive Secre- <br /> tary . <br /> Ben Lofchie seconded the motion . All in favor . <br />
