Greg responded that from Mashpee to Chatham, we are <br /> the only ones without a Town Engineer. <br /> Rita asked if he might have to put in more than 8 hours? Greg replied <br /> "yes'' . Rita commented that Greg certainly has the background required . <br /> Jane Stockbridge commented that the premise of this was all right . <br /> Referring to how this could be handled, Jane Stockbridge said that it <br /> should be kept separate and that he should still continue as a D. P.W. <br /> Director and serve as a consultant when doing the engineering work . <br /> Ri to Sousa commented that a consultant is not an employe <br /> Rita o S.+Lcommented that 1 i a L. defines "'consultant"' . She i d <br /> that if he were to be called a consultant, he would have a problem <br /> with the IRS . <br /> Chairman Sullivan commented that w could call it down engineer <br /> part-tine . Rita pointed out that might bring up another issue of why <br /> we were not interviewing or paying other people for the job , <br /> Rita Sousa asked about making the duties a part of theD. P. W . position <br /> and thea changing the compensation's Jane commented that it would be <br /> difficult to do as it would have to go to Town Meeting . <br /> Jane Stockbridge suggested checking with Town Counsel . <br /> Rita Sousa asked how much time the consultant, Charles Rowley, is <br /> putting in? Greg replied that he did not know. Rita commented that <br /> Greg would be putting in more time . Greg responded that them are a <br /> number of issues that keep coming up . The Building Inspector, Doug <br /> Boyd, asked him to help him out . Rita Sousa asked again if 8 hours <br /> was sufficient? Greg replied "at this time" . In reference to his <br /> memo to the Board of Selectmen dated December 23, Greg pointing out <br /> that he suggested reassessing this in six months or one year. <br /> Chairman Sullivan told Greg Taylor that the Board was all in agreement <br /> on this and that it is costing too much to ]ging a person in from <br /> Wareham . He said that it was now a matter of making it legal . <br /> Making reference to the Town Engineer job description under "Level of <br /> Responsibility", Greg asked that the warding "Plans and performs <br /> duties independently and recommends corrective a ton where necessary" <br /> be also listed under the "Major Duties"' section of the job <br /> description. Jane Stockbridge commented that the Board needed to <br /> review the job description. <br />
