PERSONNEL BOARD syn/i MINUTES OF MARCH 9, 1992 MASHPEE TOWN HALL The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight ' s meeting: Jane Stockbridge, Leo Turo and Rita Sousa. Acting Chairman Stockbridge commenced the meeting at 6: 13 p.m. Personnel Board Minutes With regard to the Personnel Board Minutes of February 10, 1992, page 2, Jane Stockbridge indicated that the correction of the January 13th Minutes, page 3, should reads "After Greg Taylor told the Board that the town was Paying the consultant for his travel time. Chairman Sullivan noted that it is costing the Town too much to bring a consultant in from Wareham. " Rita Sousa moved to accept the Personnel Board Minutes of Feb. 10 with the correction. Leo Turo seconded . All in favor. Restructurina and Formattina P.A.P. Rita Sousa presented Board members with a restructured and formatted P.A.P. She asked that each member review it and return it to her with their comments . Communication From Fire Chief The Board reviewed communication dated March 10 from Fire Chief Ridgeway regarding replacement of the Fire Department Administrative Secretary, Barbara Flynn. Mrs. Flynn will be resigning her position at the end of May. Rita Sousa noted that the Chief is asking for the Board ' s approval of a Selection Committee consisting of Chief Ridgeway, Deputy Chief Baker, Diane Rommelmeyer and Marilyn Farren. Rita wondered why the Chief was recommending the Town Accountant to be involved in the hiring. Upon review of the job advertisement, Rita commented that the start- ing salary should be listed as an hourly rate. She noted that the ad states experience in elecronic spread sheets and data analysis and that knowledge of MacIntosh computer systems would be extremely helpful . She questionned what the Chief meant by experience in electronic spread sheets and data analysis . Later in the evening, Chief Ridgeway came into the meeting. The Chief indicated that they would need a person who was computer literate. The person would be responsible for the payroll and budgetting which is on a spreadsheet. The Chief commented that with regard to data analysis, the person would need to have a head for numbers . Chief Ridgeway told the Board that the Town Accountant would be able to screen applicants . Rita asked if it was more important to have her review the applications . Chief Ridgeway indicated that his intent was to have her do both.
