PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING <br /> MINUTES OF OCTOBER 14, 1992 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following Personnel Board members were present : Chairman Rita <br /> Sousa, Robert Sullivan, Ben Lofchie, and Jane Stockbridge. <br /> Nancy Caffyn, Board of Selectman, was also present during a portion <br /> of the meeting . <br /> Chairman Sousa convened the meeting at 4 : 30 p .m. <br /> Personnel Board Minutes <br /> Ben Lofchie moved to accept the Personnel Board minutes of September 8, <br /> 1992 as written. Rita Sousa seconded . All in favor. <br /> Article 7 - Annual Town Meeting Warrant <br /> Rita Sousa advised the Board that monies were approved at Town Meeting <br /> for Robert Sherman ' s upgrade. She said that Amy Mosley ' s hourly rate <br /> is currently beyond Step 2 of the new grade; therefore, no monies needed <br /> to be appropriated . Rita indicated that Amy expressed concern over this <br /> and asked why she had to wait . Rita said that she explained the reasons <br /> to Amy. <br /> Ben Lofchie -.Winter Leave <br /> Rita Sousa explained that Ben approached her and asked if she wanted him <br /> to resign from the Personnel Board when he leaves for Florida on his <br /> winter vacation. Rita told Ben "no, that it wasn ' t a burden last year. " <br /> With regard to the departments which Ben is liaison to, Rita asked for <br /> volunteers to take over in Ben ' s absence . The departments involved <br /> are: Town Clerk, D.P. W. , Board of Appeals and other boards . Ben <br /> indicated that there are no special problems with any of these depart- <br /> ments at the present time. <br /> Bob Sullivan mentioned that he would never take off for that amount of <br /> time . Bob indicated that he would be going to Florida for two weeks <br /> during November. Ben asked : "How long did Manny Glickman ( a former <br /> Board member) take off?" Bob said that four months is a long time and <br /> that it adds a burden . Rita Sousa said that unless the Board of <br /> Selectmen overrules her, she would like to see if it creates an undue <br /> burden and then the Board would revisit the issue . ( Note: Ben ' s current <br /> appointment is up at the end of FY ' 93 ) . She said that she would accept <br /> the egg on her face if it becomes a burden. Jane Stockbridge agreed <br /> that the Board could wait and see. <br /> Bob Sullivan said that he would pick up the Department of Public Works . <br /> Rita Sousa said that she would check in on Town Clerk . Jane Stockbridge <br /> will assist the Board of Appeals and other boards . <br /> Interviewing and Hiring Policy - Police Officer <br /> Rita Sousa indicated that she would be meeting with Chief Frye to <br /> discuss the Town ' s Interviewing and Hiring Policy for an entry-level <br /> Police Officer. She said that she is not sure she understands the <br /> policy and will review it with the Chief . <br />
