t <br /> MINUTES OF MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION MEETING <br /> March 13, 2017 <br /> Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9;20 AM at the Mashpee. <br /> Town Hall in the Popponesset Meeting Room. <br /> PRESENT: Ken Bates, Tim Leedharn, Don Barton, Al Wickel <br /> ABSENT: Stanton Healy, Bill Taylor, Don MacDonald <br /> ALSO IN ATTENDANCE. Al Turner (Harbormaster), Ashley Harrigan & <br /> (Natural Resources), RickYork (Natural Resources), Catherine Laurent <br /> (DPW). <br /> MINUTE.S....QF MEETING Februan( 14,� 2017 : Motion made by Don Barton <br /> to accept minutes. Motion by Tim Leedharn-second by Tim Leedham. <br /> Vote was unanimous. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & INFORM8TION SESSIONS: Don Barton will assume <br /> duties of the Secretary position., <br /> COMMUNICATIONS &.....CORRESPONDENCENothing to report <br /> OLD. BUSINESS: <br /> Harbormaster Report: Alec reported the award of 3 Motorola radios for his <br /> department. This equipment, from a nuclear plantin Georgia, has a value <br /> of $6,000. Three batteries were purchased to power the new devices. <br /> Alec also related that he has contacted the White Shark Conservancy . He <br /> will pick yap an acoustical receiver that will be deployed in 25 feet of water <br /> of Seconnesset point. Alec, byway of background, detailed the very <br /> significant increase in the presence and numbers of white sharks in the <br /> waters around Chatham. He said the detection of any sharks would not be <br /> read time and for research only. However, a protocol for dissemination of <br /> information may still need to be considered. Alec asked about the post <br /> dredge survey in the inner channel which may help him locate four missing <br /> winter sticks. He added that the seasonsl assistants stark 27 March and by <br /> April 21 st the channel markers will be deployed. <br />
