Ken also stated that work continues on the development of an MOU
agreement on the Popponesset Approach Channel between the Town and
SPB. The objective is to maintain an approach channel that is longer,
deeper, and wider. SPP will contract with the Woods Hole group for the
design concept and going forward, it is understood no additional financial
burden will accrue to the Town for the operational implementation and
maintenance of this undertaking.
On the matter of the smooth information flow of the dredging invoices and
engineering bills, a motion was made by Al Wickel to allow Chairman Bates
to coordinate directly with the Town manager, Town staff, and Selectmen to
facilitate the processing of these obligations. The motion was 2nd by Tim
Leedharn and the motion was unanimously approved.
Catherine Laurent(DPW) gave an update on the Great River Ramp project.
She said her office was still waiting on 2 certificates - a 401 certificate for
dredging and one for filling, She noted that when these certificates are
issued, the Army Corp will follow up with the review. The contractor will
start after Columbus day and this will then result in the closure of the GR
Ramp.
On signage, significant progress had been made by the subcommittee. A
prototype of the signage was presented. The goal was to keep the signage
concise, concentrated, while still affording space for additional information.
It was recommended, however, that there should be a separate sign
addressing visitors, that there is no fishing or swimming off the dock. It was
also understood that the Selectmen would approve boat "Tie Up" language.
After discussion, it was agreed that the main sign should be titled " Boating
Safety and Boating Usage Guidelines".
Catherine also related that construction on 24 boat racks at Pirate Cove will
commence next month. Ockway Bay will have an additional 10 racks
constructed. Also, a CPC application has been submitted for parking lot
construction at Ockway Bay.
A motion to adjourn was made by Tim Leedham, seconded by Al Wicket.
The vote was unanimous, The meeting adjourned at 11 :00AM
G
