F <br /> Alec mentioned that on lashpee/wakeby, a bass fisherman was counselled on a speeding issue. over <br /> at Otis village and John's Pond, "make shift', docks are a concern that could pose a danger to other- <br /> water traffic. He is working with Drew McManus i n Conservation to find the best solution. <br /> Alec updated on the recent White Shark Conservancy meeting. He said the research reports will be <br /> gathered monthly. The new acoustical buoy will be deployed off of suconesset Shoal in 20 ft. of water, <br /> Finally,Alec issued violation tickets for shellfish removal on the Causeway. His encounter with these <br /> individuals required some caution. <br /> DNR Director/Shellfish Constable Report—Rick York indicated the shellfish propagation efforts continue. <br /> Shellfish bags are being fabricated and crab traps are beim built to reduce predatation. He noted that <br /> some minor oyster drill snail damage had occurred on some limited stock. He stated that DPW plans to <br /> pave the oakway Bay parking lot and will go to CPC in,dune for fonds. <br /> l ashpee Lakes—Don McDonald reported that the water level at Mashpee/wakeby is .5.5x'over the <br /> fishway. There was a cleanup on Mashpee River and much refuse was collected. He mentioned the <br /> number of bass derbies hosted in our local waters was high and there was an increase in activity., <br /> waquoit Bay—Normal boating activity. <br /> Water Quality Update—Don McDonald reported that collection dates for water sampling this season <br /> have been announced. A training date is being set up. Don said that two new tribal members will join <br /> the effort this season, <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources Committee—Nothing to report <br /> Sewer Committee Update—No meetings held since last September <br /> Public Access Update—Rick York stated that the Great River Ramp is still in the permitting process and a <br /> very substantial delay in completion has been encountered until all state approvals are eventually <br /> granted, - <br /> Waterways Improvement Plan and Dredging—Ken Bates indicated that the Certificate of Compliance for = <br /> the Popponesset Approach channel has been sent out. The post survey showed 6633 cubic yards of <br /> material had been removed out of a previous estimate of 7000 yards. Ken mentioned the Town had <br /> written an ITU between the Town and SPR. SPR had the l' OU under review for possible signing or <br /> revision. He noted that SPB is working on a renewal of their conservation permit for trucking of sand <br /> and a renewal of their dredging permit for their portion of the Inner Channel. Their design of a new <br /> Popponesset Approach Channel, intended to be added to the Towns Comprehensive Permit, is still a <br /> work in progress. Ken also clarified for Dory Barton,who had been previously absent,that under this <br /> OU, any incremental dredging expense in the future for wider,deeper, longer channel with parallel <br /> retention channel to replace our existing Popponesset Approach Channel would be funded by SPR. <br /> Ken also discussed an environmental requirement in the dredging permit that requires the development <br /> of a Dog and Avian Management Plan by the Town to protect threatened bird species. Dogs on <br /> I ashpee beachfront areas can pose an avian danger. Kerw asks that a draft memo on this subject be <br /> formulated for consideration by the Town manager. Accordingly,a plan/proposal for No Dogs on Beach <br /> reads "The Town Bylaws 54-7=54-32, MGL Coo pg. -21d that no dogs are allowed on public beaches in <br /> iashpee; The beaches are posted" No Dogs Allowed". <br />
