Public Access tJ date- Ken reported that there was a temporary delay at the Great River Ramp Rro*ect
due to a delay in delivery of fiberglass encased re ba rs. Estimated completion date will still be December
1"Per a statement by the contractor.
Waterwa Irn provement Plan and Dredging Schedule lien reported that he had feedback from the
Dredge Manager of the Barnstable County Dredge operation. The Dredge Manager is reluctant to do
the dredge of the Great River/Little River Channel because the pre-dredge survey showed only 1100
cubic yards, approximately 245 CY realistically with the balance being in over depth—not enough
material. Mr. Rates would continue to work on the issue. The Popponesset Approach channel has been
scheduled for January. Several members took strong issue with this County Dredge position. Don
Barton said the shallow entrance to Hamblin Pond was in real need of dredging for navigation and
flushing for water quality, Mr. Bates noted that we are in preliminary development stages of issuing an
RFP for a new Little River/Hamlin Pond Entrance dredge project. This process will take a few years
before we receive a permit for this improvement dredgero"ect. Stephen bone stressed the
p p need for
dredging in this area. He also was concerned about the blockage near the causeway in Hamblin Pond.
Alec Turner emphasized that there is a real sense of urgency to get thesero'ects completed and should
p a p d
not be defer-red. Ken was asked to follow up with the Dredge Manager and get these projects
scheduled.
Dan Barton asked attendees if the water Quality Collection Program under the MWC p
might be laced
g
under the purview of the Natural Resources/Conservation to gain more visibility. He felt that the MWC
focused on water navigation, safety, and dredging, not marine life and conservation. It was the
consensus that there should be no changes to the water Quality Program as no advantages would be
gal ned by the Town.
A motion to adjourn was made by Don MacDonald and 2ndby Dan Barton. The meeting was adjourneddJ
at 18:00 AM. The next meeting is scheduled for 9Al , December 1211, 2017 In the Popponesset Meeting
Room.
Ken Bates—Chairman
Don MacDonald—Vice Chair on
Don Barton--Secretary
Stan Healy
Al wicket
Stephen Ione
