, i 1 <br /> j <br /> Board of selectmen Page Three <br /> Regular Meeting <br /> Wednesday, April 15, 1987 <br /> Noting the long-tine opinion and precedent against presenting a <br /> article at Town Meeting with fixed prices without a. bid, Mr. Hanson <br /> declined to second this motion, _ _ <br /> 4. School Board Liability_ Coverage . Mr. Murphy referenced <br /> a letter dated April 6 , 1987 from Paul Peters Agency, Inc . in which <br /> a, renewal of the Town's $1,000,000.00, School Board Legal Liability <br /> coverage was quoted at $4,331.00. for a one-year term. The previous <br /> annual installment premium was $938.00. on a three-year guaranteed <br /> rate policyissued in 1984. The deductibles under the new policy are <br />' also being increa.sed <br /> i5a Appellate Tax Board cases , The Board of Assessors <br /> submitted by memorandum dated Aril 7, 1987 a detailed procedure for <br /> handling Appellate Tax Board cases . The Board sought concurrence with <br /> the procedure they have used with Town Counsel in the past. The <br /> Executive secretary noted that the Board of Assessors gees use Legal <br /> andngineeringfunds for these matters and that �b following the <br /> outlined guidelines and procedures '.s the most expedient. The Board <br /> of Assessors would continue to utilize the Thursday afternoon meetings <br /> ww J <br /> ith Town Counsel as much as possible to minimize expenses , Members <br /> ers <br /> o the Bca.rd of selectmen unanimously concurred with the procedures and <br /> guidelines as outlined in the above-noted memorandum and to continue to <br /> utilize the services of Town Counsel as needed. <br /> W ATE R C I S S I ON: <br /> Chairman Thomas stated that the meeting for Rules and <br /> Regulations of the water District was cancelled, Mrs * Thomas said <br /> that another meeting could be scheduled on April 22, 1987 at 9:30 A.M. <br /> with consultants for this purpose if the Commissioners approved. After <br /> discussion, it was the consensus that this meeting be postponed to a. <br /> date* and time as soon as .possible after May 9 to allow the new Water <br /> Commissioners the opportunity to participate. <br /> Chairman Thomas presented the minutes of the last T A f <br /> meeting for inforr a i ona l purposes , <br /> There being no further business to come before the Regular <br /> fee ingr Chairman Hanson adjourned sane of .er appropriate motion at <br /> 20 P. M. As it was necessary to .old Executive sessions for the <br /> purpose of discussing two re-al. s t ate y-_tra.ras i oz.s involving e Town, <br /> and to discuss strategy regarding p os s i l e litigation involving the Town <br /> the Chairman polled each member. After individual and affirmative vote , <br /> , <br /> the Board roved to enter into Executive Session.
