Solid-Waste Transfer Statione Selectman Carter moved <br /> that the Board of Selectmen e ecute the inter-municipal agreement <br /> between the towns of Iashpe , Falmouth and Sandwich for the con. <br /> struction, maintenance and operation of a solid-waste rail transfer <br /> station at the Massachusetts Military Reservation at Otis Air National <br /> Guard Base . Mr. Hanson moved to appoint peter Lawrence as the <br /> Board of Selectmen designee to the Board of Managers of the transfer <br /> Station for a. tern to expire June 30, 1987. Mr, Carter seconded the <br /> ..mooti n axed the o�te' was unanimous . r. Carter moved 4 that lir. Hanson <br /> be appoint'e- d 'as alternate designee ' to the Board of Managers ,, Mr. <br /> Gottlieb seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous . <br /> 2. School system re : prowsed FY 88 budget reductions <br /> Dr. DeMouray Superintendent-Elect o f the lashpe e Bub-110c Schools , <br /> stated in his written communication of May 25, 1987 that 'AAs a. <br /> result of the recent defeat of the budget override , the Mash ee <br /> School System rust reduce its operating budget for FY 88 by 105,000t "0 <br /> 05,000, "0 <br /> A list of proposed budget cuts that will be recommended to the I ashpee <br /> School Committee at its next regular meeting was attached. <br /> 3. Superintendent o f Schools re : budgetdeficit. In a <br /> memorandum dated May 7t 1987 , Superintendent Nicholson stated that <br /> re-examination of projected expenses within the regular day budget <br /> and the requirements of special education for the remain'ing school <br /> year indicates that the present deficit amount will be approximately <br /> $15,000. The original estimated potential budget t deficit was approxi- <br /> mately <br /> g �� <br /> in March of x987. The Finance Committeehas "ear- <br /> marked" that amount from the Reserve Fund to offset the deficit, <br /> Selectmen Carter expressed concern over this budget deficit and sug- <br /> gested that a meeting be arranged between the Board of Selectmen and <br /> the School Committee to discuss methods to prevent future occurrences <br /> of deficit, Mr,, 'Hanson suggested and it was unanimously agreed that <br /> the Board of Selectmen should be kept informed by the Finance Committee <br /> regarding proposed expenditures from monies left in the Reserve Fund . <br /> 4. Massachusetts Municipal Association. The Board o <br /> Selectmen briefly discussed the matter of a, proposed amendment to the <br /> Articles of Orgaaization to limit the Directors ' and Officers , Ilabi- <br /> lity in dertain respects as outlined in a memorandum frome Associa- <br /> tion soc - <br /> a <br /> tion dated May, 1987 at their meeting of May 27, 1987. At that time <br /> Selectman Gottlieb had offered to attend the meeting of members of <br /> the Association to <br /> be held on June 9 , 1987. It was unanlmOuSly agreed <br /> that ChainvOnan Thomas will sign the the proxy Grote in favor of the <br /> proposed amendment, <br /> 5. Popponesset Dredging Project - letter from Dr.. Aubrey <br /> The Board of Selectmen had discussed the�r letter dated a <br /> from - � � � <br /> Aubrey which concerned expenses for this project. Mrse Thomas <br /> stated that Town Counsel has prepared an addendum to r, Aubre ��s con- <br /> tract which wilde ermit the - <br /> p payment f oe e�pens e with the , Board-'s. <br /> approval-.
