The plans showed where rooks <br /> already are and where lir. Virgilio is proposing to either put other <br /> rooks or move e ones that are already in the area. A draft letter <br /> has leen prepared for approval of Town Counsel which, after signa- <br /> ture of property owners , will allow for the actual placement of the <br /> rocks by the DPW. The Board of Selectmen unanimously agreed to the <br /> placement of said rocks as discussed at Attaquin Park and on ad- <br /> joining and a u+ttzng properties pending signatures of landowners o <br /> hese private properties on the letter of approval, Mr. Gottlieb <br /> moved that the Board of Selectmen authorize the placement of signs <br /> y the DPW at Attaquin Park indicating "Residents Only' . "No Littering" � <br /> "No Loitering" , "No Camping" , "Emergency Vehicles Only" . "Handicapped <br /> Parking". <br /> 9• The Chairwoman brieololy discussed the proposed meeting o <br /> the Board of Selectmen and the Department Heads which' is being <br /> attended to by Messrs . Gottlieb and Carter. This matter will be <br /> placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting of the Board which <br /> is scheduled to e held on Wednesday, July 1, 1987. <br /> 10. o in.tme n s� - Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. <br /> Mr. Gottlieb moved the appointment en. of the following persons to the <br /> Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for the FY ' 88term: <br /> Denise Stinehar -Watson, Robert Fernald, -William Chase III , Alexa. <br /> Fox, Gail Scorgie , Robin Hicks , Cheryl. Holmes. Ir. Crater seconded <br /> the motion. The Vote was unanimous . <br /> i <br /> NEW BUSINESS; <br /> 1. Police Department - Present police maw. ower needs . <br /> Chief of Police Frye submitted a memorandum on this - subject dated <br /> June 16 1987* Chief Frye discussed this matter with the Board and <br /> stated that this all begins on July 1, 1987 because of the cut in <br /> the Department's Wage Account. He noted that this memorandum is for <br /> the record and briefly reviewed the con-tents thereof. Chief Frye <br /> stated that Items No. 4 and No. 5 of the memorandum indicate "livable <br /> solutions" for proper police coverage .. Chief Frye stated that because <br /> of fiscal constraints `ewe won't be able to do this at all" ; but this is <br /> "Wha.t is needed is for the S.a 'e-ty Factor of the Town" ,, It wassug- <br /> gested by lir. Carter and Mrs Gottlieb that the Department indicate <br /> monetarily how new people on salary as permanent employees would cut <br /> back on overtime, Both Chief Frye and Deputy Chief Cooper emphati- <br /> cally stressed the seriousness of this insufficient manpower situation. <br /> Mrs . Thomas suggested that the matter be discussed with the Finance <br /> Committee , also, and that- a copy of the' memorandum _be sent o them, <br /> 2. Police Department - fifteen minute cell-block checks <br /> Chief` Frye s u�br i e d a.mer orandum disc-us ing a law passed by the <br /> egisla.ture which requires the lockups of Police Departments o be <br /> modified by the addition of certain physical 'improvements to help <br />
