Jean Thomas , Chairwoman; Jeremy Carter; Andrew Gottlieb; <br /> Willard Hanson; Peter Lawrence . Joseph Murphy, Executive Secretary, <br /> was also present. <br /> Chairwoman Thomas convened this meeting at 7: 00 B. M. <br /> OLD BWINESS : <br /> le App .intm.ents. t--- Mrs * Thomas commented that Selectmen a.re con- <br /> sidering <br /> on- <br /> sidering a policy that all persons mot mandated by statute , by-law, <br /> or contract be appointed for one-year terms expiring Juno 30 of each <br /> year, -. <br /> Town Planner: There was some d.icussion concerning the length <br /> f this position. After discussions Mr. Gottlieb moved that for the <br /> Town Planner's po i ti on, F. Thomas Fudala shall b ppo int d to that <br /> position for period of three �e�� . Mrs . Thomas seconded the motion. <br /> Messrs . Hanson and Lawrence were opposed to the motion. Mr. Carter <br /> voted in favor. <br /> Assistant Town Accountant: There is no statute that an- <br /> dates this appointment coincide with the three-year appointment of <br /> the Torn Accountant; however, the Town Accountant has recommended <br /> that i t be s o. Mr. 'Lawrence moved that the Board r a.po int Diane <br /> Romr elmeyer as Assistant Town Accountant for a per�.od of three years. <br /> Ir. Hanson seconded the motion. The vote was unan ious . <br /> Board, of Appeals : lir. Lawrence moved that the Board appoint <br /> William Hanrahan as a full member of the Board of Appeals for a, three- <br /> ear term. ' Mr. Gottlieb seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous . <br /> Mrs Lawrence roved that the Board of Selectmen appoint Peter Muse , <br /> Cheryl Ha.wver, and Thomas Sexton as Associate Members of the Board of <br /> Appeals for teras of three-years each. Mr. Hanson seconded the motion, <br /> The vote was unanimous . <br /> Inland and Coastal waterways Committee : Mr. Gottlieb moved .� <br /> that the Board appoint Albert Hollander, Donald Lund, and William <br /> Burns to the Committee - for orae-year terms each; Irew Sager Schwartz , <br /> and Richard Halpern for two-year terms each; and Ernest Roberts and <br /> Antonio Fiorentini for terms of three years each. Mr. Carter seconded <br /> the motion. Mr. Lawrence was opposed to this motion. Mrs . Thomas <br /> and Mro Hanson voted in favor. <br /> Special Waterways Police : lir, Gottlieb recalled that the <br /> Chief of Police has recommended that Special waterways Police not be <br /> reappointed for reasons detailed at the meeting of the Board held on <br /> June 24, 19 and that at that time it was suggested that if Mr, Lund <br /> and Mr. Govoni were not going to be reappointed as Special Ovate rwas <br /> Police t they should be moved to the Harbormaster's Department. Mr. <br /> Gottlieb said that he has not heard anything about the liabilities <br /> issue from either Department at this time . Being an Assistant <br /> Harbormaster, lir. Gottlieb removed himself from any action or further <br />
