Jean Thomas , Chairwoman; Jeremy Carter; Andrew Gottlieb; <br /> Willard Hanson; Peter Lawrence . <br /> The Chairwoman convened this meeting at 7: 00 P. ISI. <br /> Mr. Carter mored that the Board accept the minutes of the regular <br /> meeting held on Jung 24, 1987 and the minutes of the executive session <br />' held on June 24, 1987. Mr Lawrence seconded the motion. The vote <br /> was unanimous , <br /> (Note : This meeting proceeded out of order of the agenda, as scheduled. <br /> TSD BUSINESS <br /> 1. Proposed Ballot uesti- n re . Water filters . In a <br /> memorandum dated July 2 , 1987 , the Executive Secretary suggested that <br /> the Board consider the inclusion on the July 28 Special Election <br /> Ballot of a question to override the provisions of Proposition 2 <br /> provide $41,000. for water filters as previously discussed. William <br /> Jones stated that at this point in time $70-o-Q00. would be a, more <br /> a.p ropriaite figure as there are three other buildings , besides Building <br /> #1 , in Summ erwood which have been condemned -by DEE since the last <br /> me e ting of the Board held on June 24, 1987. He said, "We have no choice <br /> but to do four buildings . DEQE says 'do it"' . lir. Janes also cited <br /> problems with the Ashumet Valley and Bri a.rwo o d areas and administrative <br /> costs and other related costs . After discussion, Mr. Gottlieb moved <br /> to include on the July 28, 1987 Special Election Ballot a question to <br /> override the provisions of Proposition 2 o provide $70,000, <br /> for wader <br /> filters and that the question, as prepared by the Executive Secretary, <br /> be amended to show $70,000. ra her than $41,000. . Mr. Lawrence seconded <br /> the motion, The vote was unani m us . <br /> APP T I TME T S AND HEARINGS : <br /> 2. Anne Shaw - town computer system, Ms . Shaw, Town <br /> Treasurer, was present to provide her opinion, as Town Treasurer, that <br /> the the purchase of a computer system for the Town is very much a. <br /> necessity and "not a luxury" . she cited several examples of how a <br /> computer system could have saved axed c axe, in the future , save the Town <br /> a great deal of money particularly, but not limited to, in the Treasurer's <br /> Department, the Accounting Department and the Assessor's Department, <br /> Ms * Shaw said "The core of financial security is an integrated computer <br /> system". <br /> 1D B US TOTES s (cont. <br /> 2. Appointments . <br /> a. Assistant Shellfish Warden - On the recommendation <br /> of the Shellfish Com ission, Mr* 'Lawrence roved that the Board appoint <br /> Michael McGrath of Monomoscoy Road to the position Of Assistant Shell- <br /> fish Warden. Mr. Carter seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous . <br />
