After <br /> execution by all members of the Board of Selectmen, the contract <br /> will be hand-delivered to Tern Counsel., Mr. Schwartz said -tha.t <br /> all permits should be available by Friday, July 10, 1987. <br /> NEW BUSINESS : <br /> 1. Fire Department - recommendation from Acting Chief. <br /> Chase . Acting Chief nhase was present and re-ferred to his communi- <br /> cation of Tune 24, 1987 concerning the appointment of Richard Martini <br /> as Acting Lieutenant effective July 1, 1987 to fill the vacancy created <br /> when lir. Chase was appointed to Acting Chief status . Acting Chief <br /> Chase recommended that Richard Martini be paid the same o as the other <br /> extended acting officer positions since he will be Acting lieutenant <br /> for an extended period of time . Mr' Gottlieb roved that Richard <br /> Martini be appointed Acting Li to .=ant.-.effec ire. July 1, 198,7--.-as re- <br /> -commended by Acting Chief Chase, <br /> Acting Chief Chase discussed budget problems and projected <br /> cuts of the Fire Department which will have to be made to come within <br /> the proper amount of wages , salaries and expenses that the Town voted. <br /> Ile said, 'I want tO make it very clear that the way we are dealing with <br /> emergencies is on a, first come first served basis". Cuts will have to <br /> e made on recall O <br /> Acting Chief Chase also discussed a. sale of the hose-reel <br /> pumper saying that he had hear' a, rumor t. f- that effect. 66 that the <br /> Board of Selectmen had mentioned the possibility of such a. sale. <br /> Mr. Gottlieb asked for a simple report on the hose-reel pumper such <br /> as its function, realistic sale price . usefulness to the Town - in the <br /> future , etc . Acting Chief Chase said that Middlesex Fire Apparatus <br /> in e r o nt, company which sold the pumper to the T own, has expressed <br /> interest in burring it back for $80 0000 - $10,000. less than the ori- <br /> ginal sale price - and using that 802000. as a. credit against the <br /> purchase of a new attack engine . The engine the Town now owns is <br /> seg enteerg years old and "is going into the rehab stage"'' It was <br /> unani-mously agreed to have Acting Chief Chase put his -ideas and re- <br /> commndations into a report for the Board <br /> Acting Chief Chase concluded by saying, "If the Town were <br /> to obtain or find funds in the near future , restoration of $60 o,9 <br /> to my wage account, we could maintain manpower on a. bare level", <br /> 2.
