Board of Selectmen Page Two <br /> i <br /> i Regular Meeting <br /> July 20 , l9On <br /> Ir. Lope's actions did not constitute any criminal offense . Select- <br /> man Danson gave a very favorable personal account of Mr. Lopes <br /> renting jet skis to his son. Mr. Hanson explained that while r. <br /> Lopes does not have permission to operate a concession on beaches , <br /> e does run a, water-sports rental business renting equipment to <br /> individuals who ' contact him. Mr. Danson further explained that Mr. <br /> Lopes provides excellent indoctrination on the use of the equipment <br /> and laws pertaining to such use . After discussion, it was unani- <br /> mously agreed that the Board of Selectmen shall take no action on <br /> this matter, <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND RINGS (cont. <br /> 2. Shellfish Commission. Robert ert Maxim of the Shellfish <br /> Commission spoke to the Board of Selectmen and assembled Townspeople <br /> about recent allegations of misconduct on the part of commercial <br /> shellfis erman. Mr. -Maxim axi referred to discussions occurring at the <br /> meeting of the Board of Selectmen Meld. on July 13 , 1987 and to several <br /> newspaper articles published since that date . He noted that the issue <br /> of commercial s ellfis ing particularly in Little River and Great <br /> River has become a very serious issue involving the shellfisherman, <br /> persons owning property along the waterways , and the Shellfish Commi- <br /> ssion, Shellfish warden, David Ryan, and several persons residing <br /> in the areas also addressed this matter.' After discussion, 't was <br /> the unanimous suggestion of the members, of tie Board of Selectmen pre- <br /> sent that these issues should properly be brought before the Shell- <br /> fish <br /> ell- <br /> fis Commission during the regular meetings of that Commission or <br /> during special meetings called for that purpose to bring the resolu- <br /> tion <br /> esolu-tion of these matters to mutual agreement. Mro Maxim informed those <br /> present of Shellfish Commission meeting dates and times , <br /> 3. Mss ee River woodlands B Jamie Ferragamo, Chair- <br /> person of the Mashpee River woodlands Committee , was present to talk <br /> about the upcoming Mas .pee River Woodlands Darr celebration and to in- <br /> vite the attendance of those present, <br /> . water distribution system - Tri-Town Circle, In his <br /> memorandum dated July 17 , 1987 , theExecutive- Secretary noted that <br /> Selectman Carter requested the appearance of the C ��r an of the <br /> Finance Committee at this meeting to discuss the financial aspects <br /> associated with connection of the water system .a.t Ashumet Valle <br /> Tri-Town Circle with the Town of Falmouth. Mr. Murphy further re- <br /> viewed thIs matter in that memorandum. The Finance Committee also <br /> submitted a memorandum dur on this subject detailing the position on the <br /> i initial start-up funding to comply pl with the Town of Falmouth's re <br /> quest that monies be provided by the Town of Mashpee to ensure pay- <br /> meat when Falmouth water is provided to supply the Ashumet valley <br /> Water System.
