1 <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> TUE DAY, SEPTEMBER 8. 198 <br /> REGULAR SESSION <br /> Page <br /> OLD BUSINESS continued <br /> Town Counsel feels it is necessary to hire Mr. Rowney back to work with <br /> the Personnel of the Land Court onthis issue. <br /> The Board deferred further discussion until after they conducted their <br /> hearing scheduled for 7: 15 p.m. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 7: 15 The Board of Selectmen conducted a public on the request of Cape <br /> Cod Convention Center d/b/a. Sun Wah to close for business for <br /> economic reasons until May of 1988. <br /> Mr. Halpern explained he would like to close until May 20, 1988 <br /> with -the option of opening on different occasions for private <br /> parties. <br /> Selectman Hanson suggested the Board grant a closure for 90 days <br /> at which time Mr. Halpern would come back to the Board. <br /> Selectmen expressed concern over setting a precedent for other <br /> licensees. <br /> Mr. Halpern stated if the Board would not allow him to close he <br /> would stay open the minimum hours allowed. He felt this was 20 <br /> hours per week. Mr. Murphy pointed out that the rules and <br /> regulations do not specify how many hours he world have to stay <br /> open. <br /> Selectman Hanson moved to deny the request of Cape Cod Convention <br /> Center d/b/a Sinn Wah. Selectman Gottlieb seconded. All were in <br /> favor. <br /> Mr. Murphy will draft a proposal to change the rules and regulations <br /> to address the minimum hours an establishment has to be open. <br /> 7:30 The- Board of Selectmen conducted the annual tax classification <br /> hearing to adopt a ta.x classification, open space discount, and <br /> residential exemption. The Board reviewed a package put together <br /> by the Board of Assessors indicating physical impact. After <br /> further discussion, Selectman Hanson moved to adopt the Residential <br /> Factor of 1 as the tax classification. Selectmen Lawrence seconded. <br /> All were in favor. Selectman Lawrence moved to not allow n open <br /> Space Discount. Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor. <br /> Selectman Lawrence moved to not allow a residential exemption. <br /> Selectman Hanson seconded. All were in favor, <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1 The Board discussed the letter relative to postponement of revaluation. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb Belt the letter answered -all questions raised. <br />
