i <br /> c <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> I <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER Ss, 1987 <br /> IPage 3 <br /> i <br /> I <br /> Mr. DeLory stated he does not agree with postponing the revaluation. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 8-015 Acting Eire Chief, Bill Chase was in as a follow-up to his proposal <br /> of July 27th relative to budget cuts. Mr. Chase asked the Board <br /> for a response to his proposal <br /> Acting -Chief Chase explained that if they continue the way it is <br /> now the money will run out at the encs of October. <br /> He also pointed out that he has submitted two articles for the <br />'. November 2 special town meeting which he. feels will take care of <br /> this problem if approved, <br /> Selectman Lawrence moved to send a letter to Chief Chase instructing <br /> him to make the necessary cuts. Also, included in the letter should <br /> be that the Board approves the inclusion of the two articles on the <br /> warrant. <br /> Acting Chief Chase stated that if the cuts are made and public <br /> safety 'is put in jeopardy he would have to step down as acting <br /> chief. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb seconded the motion with comment. Mr. Gottlieb <br /> said no one liked the budget this year but we are stuck with it. <br /> At this point we do not have a source of funds and the Board would <br /> entertain suggestions. Selectman Hanson opposed. Selectman Thomas <br /> was in favor. Motion carried. <br /> At this time Selectman Gottlieb moved to go into executive session <br />' with Town Counsel and Water Commissioners for the purpose of discussing <br /> issues involving negotiations with High Wood Water. Selectman Thomas <br /> announced regular session would reconvene at 9: 15 p.m. Selectman <br /> Lawrence seconded. All were in favor. <br /> 9: 15 The Board reconvened the regular session and discussed several issues <br /> with the Water Commissioners. <br /> It was agreed that town counsel would prepare a home rule petition <br /> to permit the Town to supply water to Briarwood from the Town of <br /> Falmouth. <br /> Town Counsel would prepare a letter. for signature by the Water <br /> Commissioners to High Wood Water, <br /> An article ,would be prepared for the November special to transfer <br /> money for easement plans to be used for a. road taping plan. <br />
