+i•f <br /> Bow of SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTE <br /> oCToBER 26, 1387 - R l.ar Session <br /> PRESENT: Selectmen Thomas,, Danson and Lawrence <br /> Selectman Carter arrived at 3:28 p.m. <br /> Absent: Selectman Gottlieb who advised the Board he would not be here and Mir. <br /> Murphy who was attending a managers conference in Canada. <br /> Guests: Sue Billings, Kay Perry, Chet Koblinsly, Richard Halpern, Bill Burti , <br /> Dave Ryan, Jim O'Hara and Curtis Frye <br /> OLD BUS I SS <br /> 1. Selectmen reviewed a proposal submitted by the Chief of Police relative to <br /> projected manpower needs for 1988. <br /> The Chief recommended the hiring of two police officers. one would be funded <br /> by transfers from the Clerical Account and Dispatchers Account and the other <br /> would be funded at the annual town meeting. ' The Chief requested an article b <br /> laced on the next available special town meeting warrant to transfer the funds <br /> for one position. <br /> Selectmen agreed to include the article in the next special town meeting warrant, <br /> The Board was <br /> advised that Town Counsel has reviewed the article and has approved <br /> it as to form. <br /> 3. Selectman Hanson moved the Board of Selectmen vote to determine the following <br /> articles on the warrant of the November 21 1987 special town meeting as <br /> extraordinary and have been included on the warrant by a majority vote of the <br /> Board of selectmen: Articles 41 51 61 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13f 14r 15r 16r 17, <br /> and 18. Selectman Lawrence seconded the motion. All present were in favoir. <br /> . Selectman Thomas advised the Board that Bill Chase has refused the position of <br /> acting fire chief but has stated he would accept appointment of fire chief with <br /> a five year negotiated contract. <br /> The Board deferred any further action until town counsel arrived. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. Selectman Lawrence moved to appoint Robert and Barbara Jutstr'om to the Mashpee <br /> Arts Council, Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. All present were in favor. <br /> 2. Selectmen were requested by the Board of Health and Personnel. Board to address th <br /> question of offering benefits (blue cross/blue shield) to full-time temporary <br /> positions. <br />
