Regular Session <br /> NEW BUSINESS (continued) <br /> Richard Halpern advised the Board that this problem is not the jurisdiction <br /> of the Selectmen but does lye-with ,the- Har.bormaster. <br /> Selectman Carter would like to see an article that would address one of the <br /> concerns the Association has regarding house boats. <br /> The Harbormaster will work with the association regarding their concerns. <br /> 5. Selectman Carter moved to appoint Elizabeth Oakley as a public safety dispatcher <br /> for a probationary period of twelve months. Selectman Lawrence seconded the <br /> motion. All were in favor. <br /> 6 <br /> . 1 .t e.n--.discussed a .Concern of having ars independent p-erson of the_ Town a <br /> a member' of the legislative body- of the Charter Commission. Selectmen felt <br /> it shul.d be someone the Board authorizes to represent -them. <br /> Selectmen agreed to send a letter voicing their- concerns. <br /> . Selectman Gottlieb through Selectman Thomas asked if Town Counsel was addressing <br /> the easement issue for Summerwood. <br /> Town Counsel advised he was. <br /> 4. Selectmen had deferred .the situation of acting' f ire chief from earlier in the <br /> meeting to wait for town counsel. to .arrive. <br /> Selectman Thomas asked if the Selectmen could direct an individual to act as <br /> fire chief.- Mr.. Reardon said they could direct but not order. If. directed <br /> to assume the responsibilites of acting fire chief they could be protected <br /> from any liabilities, <br /> The Board took no action on the proposal submitted by Bill Chase <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 4:25 - Selectmen -met with Carol Howes who was representing the Mashpee Briarwood <br /> Association who feel they should have representation at the meetings with <br /> the Base. <br /> After much discussion Selectman Hanson moved to- place Mr. Albert Orlando <br /> on the negotiating team. Selectman Carter- seconded the motion.
