• A+y <br /> f <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAY* MARCH 27, 1989 <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> (Cont. ) <br /> The Board agreed that anything other than the opening of <br /> the new school , the maintaining of current levels in the <br /> schools and the maintaining of current staffing levels i n ' <br /> the DPW, Conservation Commission, Building Inspector's <br /> Office, Accounting Department and the Assessors' Office be <br /> put off to aJune special election. <br /> There was discussion as to whether the ballot questions <br /> should be split or appear as one question to include <br /> funding for additional teachers, as well as for funding <br /> for additional administrative personnel , <br /> vote was taken as to whether these questions should be <br /> combined or separate - Mr, Gottlieb and Mrs. Jacobson <br /> voted to see the questions combined. Mr. Hanson and Mr. <br /> Carter voted to see the questions separate. Mr. Lawrence j <br /> abstained, <br /> The Beard voted unanimously to place the costs connected <br /> with the new elementary school on a ballot question <br /> override. <br /> Mr. Gottlieb proved that a second question for the <br /> override ballot be to provide $301 , 000 for the schools and <br /> $569000 the new positions in the Assessors Office, <br /> Building Inspectors Office, Conservation Commission, <br /> Accounting Department and DPW in order to maintain the <br /> sere level of service to the Town. Mrs. Jacobson seconded <br /> the motion. Mr. Lawrence, Mr, Hanson and Mr. Carter were <br /> opposed. <br /> Mr. Carter moved that the $301 ,000 for the schools and the <br /> $56, 000 (departments noted above) to maintain the same <br /> level of service to the Town appear on the ballot as two <br /> separate questions . Mr. Hanson seconded the motion. Mrs, <br /> Jacobson was in favor. Mr. Gottlieb was opposed. Mr. <br /> Lawrence stated that he was against an override for both <br /> Issues, but that he would vote with the maJority In favor <br /> f two separate questions. <br />
