• A+y f BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES REGULAR SESSION MONDAY* MARCH 27, 1989 PAGE THREE APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS (Cont. ) The Board agreed that anything other than the opening of the new school , the maintaining of current levels in the schools and the maintaining of current staffing levels i n ' the DPW, Conservation Commission, Building Inspector's Office, Accounting Department and the Assessors' Office be put off to aJune special election. There was discussion as to whether the ballot questions should be split or appear as one question to include funding for additional teachers, as well as for funding for additional administrative personnel , vote was taken as to whether these questions should be combined or separate - Mr, Gottlieb and Mrs. Jacobson voted to see the questions combined. Mr. Hanson and Mr. Carter voted to see the questions separate. Mr. Lawrence j abstained, The Beard voted unanimously to place the costs connected with the new elementary school on a ballot question override. Mr. Gottlieb proved that a second question for the override ballot be to provide $301 , 000 for the schools and $569000 the new positions in the Assessors Office, Building Inspectors Office, Conservation Commission, Accounting Department and DPW in order to maintain the sere level of service to the Town. Mrs. Jacobson seconded the motion. Mr. Lawrence, Mr, Hanson and Mr. Carter were opposed. Mr. Carter moved that the $301 ,000 for the schools and the $56, 000 (departments noted above) to maintain the same level of service to the Town appear on the ballot as two separate questions . Mr. Hanson seconded the motion. Mrs, Jacobson was in favor. Mr. Gottlieb was opposed. Mr. Lawrence stated that he was against an override for both Issues, but that he would vote with the maJority In favor f two separate questions.
