Chm, Gottlieb stated that
two of the concerns of the Board have been the road leading t
the ach, and the beach itself*
Morris K.ir ,ner, chairman of the conuni.ttee, stated that he would
like to refer back to the instrument that preceded. the Memorandum
of Understanding,, the Agreement of 1981 , which set forth in detail
the exchanges of lard, the relocation of the new town beach, and
the development of Great Oak load. The Agreement of 1981 was
worked out over a lona period of time, signed, and approved by a
special town meeting. Finally,, an amended agreement was drawn
which incorporated the fact that parking was not to exceed 400
vehicles. Anis second agreement was. adopted by vote at a special
town meeting, Then there was a House Bill passed. It is a
legislative act. The committee is of the opinion that nothing
should be done to jeopardize that 1981 Agreement.
Mr. Kir ner. stated that it had been expressed among several of
the members of the committee that they would not sign the Mo
unless Great Oak load is paved to the satisfaction of the selectmen*
The committee would also Lime to work with the selectmen to try ,
to elevate a portion of the beach, so that the people would- be
able to park their oars in the parking lot and have a clear, un4ap
obstructed view of the water. That is a richt that the town
does not want to forfeit,
i
