t <br /> s <br /> I <br /> BOARD CSE SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAY v OCTOBER 16v 1989 <br /> PAGE FOUR <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> #3 (Cont. ) <br /> Mr. Hansen moved to appoint Thomas Booth to fill the <br /> vacancy on the School Committee, based on the <br /> recommendation of the School Committee, Mrs, Jacobson <br /> seconded the motion, All members of the Board of <br /> Selectmen and the School Committee were in favor. <br /> VOTER INFORMATION ASSOCIATION Mr5, Jean Thomas of the <br /> Voter Information Association presented to the Board <br /> the position and a letter that was sent to Mr, Parker, <br /> Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense from the <br /> Association. Mrs. Thomas stated that the Association <br /> collected 1 ,272 signatures relative to the decision of <br /> the Department of Defense to discontinue ne ofiations <br /> with the Town of Iashpee. The letter to Mr. Parker <br /> asked that the decision rade to discontinue the <br /> negotiations be reconsidered,, <br /> EST N & SAMPs N BOARD OF HEALTH - Mike sc i p i one of <br /> Weston & Sampson appeared before the Board to review <br /> the report relative to lead contamination in the water~ <br /> supply at the Mashpee Elementary school . <br /> Mr. s i p i one stated- that they. had looked into Highwood <br /> water o's water source to determine how corrosive it is. <br /> Envi roteh Laboratories ran a 1anl i er index which <br /> indicated -4,5 and - .4 on two separate occasions., <br /> Anything more' ne at i ve than -2.5 is considered "highly <br /> corms i v wat r" <br /> H i hwood Water has indicated that they plan to install <br /> a corrosion control system when the booster pump <br /> p <br /> stations come on line. Until that time, Weston <br /> Sampson recommends that the Town install an interim <br /> flushing program. This would involve 10 minutes on all <br /> outside faucets and 10 minutes on ups a i r~s bathrooms, 2 <br /> minutes on drinking and k1tchen faucets. After the <br /> initial flush i s out of the srster , the lead <br /> concentration should drop. <br />
