• <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAYv DECEMBER I # 1989 <br /> PAGE TWO <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> l (Cont. ) <br /> The next issue discussed was pre-employment and annual <br /> physicals for employees. The Personnel Board recommended <br /> that Selectmen negotiate for a more extensive physical to <br /> be given ever-fir two gears Instead of annually. The <br /> Personnel Board also asked that physicals for part-time <br /> employees who work less than 25 hours be waived (with the <br /> exception of public safety employees) , The Board was in <br /> agreement with these recommendations and asked that the <br /> Personnel Board come back wisth a list of positions to be <br /> covered. <br /> The Personnel Board informed the Selectmen that they are <br /> against the action of the Selectmen in their decision not <br /> to include the Personnel Board in the interviewing process <br /> for union positions . <br /> Mr. Lawrence stated that the Selectmen oted on the matter <br /> without being Provided with information relative to the <br /> ramifications of the Personnel Board not being involved in <br /> the process, i .e. , paying a dispatcher or other officer <br /> overtime while sitting in on the Interviews, or taking <br /> officers off of their patrol duties to be part of the <br /> interview process. <br /> Ir. Lawrence moved to rescind the previous vote of the <br /> Board of Selectmen (October 30, 1989) that the Personnel <br /> Board not be -involved in the interview process of union <br /> employees go back to the way it was previously handled by <br /> Personnel ) , until more information is rade available. Mr. <br /> Carter seconded the motion and Mr. Hanson was in favor. <br /> Mr. Gott1ieb and Mrs . Jacobson were opposed. <br /> Mr. Carter moved to adopt the Police Department Recruitment <br /> Policy prepared by the Personnel Boardq Selectman carter, <br /> Chief Frye and Deputy chief cooper. Mr. Lawrence seconded <br /> the motion. A 1 1 were in favor. <br /> There was discussion r-e l at I ve to the length of term of <br /> office of Personnel Board members. Mr. Reardon informed <br /> the Board that the proper length of term for the Personnel <br /> Board is as contained in the Personnel Administration y- <br />
